I'm a dual monitor guy. If you work on a computer like I do, once you have tried a dual monitor setup you can never return to just one. I had 2 19" Viewsonic CRT's until today. I am now looking at 2 matching Samsung 22" widescreens! I feel like I am at a CSI lab! Thanks Agent 99!
The question though is more of a "user input request", since I have to follow trends when I consider how to allot screen space on the website. Even though you can't buy a CRT very easily anymore, there are stiill a ton of them out there!Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

Laptops are mostly widescreen now too. I really wonder how long it will be until 4:3 is in the minortiy for both compuers and TVs. The transition in computers will be way faster since good old CRT TV's can last for 20 years.

Following up from Marcos--contrary to popular belief; I am not on a Commador 64 or a Vic 20. My monitor says NEC MultiSync FE1250 with a bumch of little buttons and I have absolutly no idea what the original question means. But, I would not mind knowing as long as it does not take someone all day to teach me.
Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

Laptop is 1680 x 1050, work monitor is 1280 x 1024 and my home monitor is 1900 x 1440. I need a bigger monitor at work.

I'm not surprised at all. The cost has come down so dramatically these past 2 years. Even at work where we are so conservative with computer equipment we have moved to all 19'' LCD widescreens that are essentially the same monthly cost as it was for the CRT's (we lease all of our equipment and the CRT's cost us about $6/mos for 36 months and the LCD's now cost us $7/mos for 26 months, with significant power consumption savings).

Great stuff. You see flat screens eveywhere, but they are not all widescreens. This is very interesting.

Indio, what do you know about the power savings comparison? Got any links?

Our Admin services division did a study and they determined with the number of monitors we had installed, the savings would more than pay for the upgrade costs. I will look and see if I can find the document. But be aware that they were using the figures provided by the manufacturers.
