Better off putting in 50+ hours a week at age 23 than 53

I think my index will improve next year. I don't plan on having another heart attack in the middle of May. Man that really sets a guy back when it comes to lowering your index!

All in all this is a pretty impressive bunch here, some really good indexes from golfers on this forum. Anyone who gets down to a single digit index and keeps it there is a decent player. Anyone who is below 20 is also a good player.

There is not a lot seperating a 10 from a 15-20. Usually the short game is what hurts. Missed putts, bad chip shots.

I am living proof of that. I had my index down to 4.5 a couple of summers ago. Missed all kinds of fairways and greens. But I chipped and putted like a PGA Pro and made tons of pars. When the GRI were there I made tons of birdies, which offset any boogies.

Like the old saying "Drive for show, Putt for dough" You do not have to drive the ball 280+ to be able to score. You do however have to be able to putt.
My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

Depends on whether you believe in the GAO (Oct 31) or Golf Quebec (Nov 30).

I'll drink to that, played my last 9 holes this season with 13 putts.

My best round in the 5 years I have been in Canada was 90 from the blue tees, legitimate bogey golf.

First full (64 rounds) year of golf. Started at a 24, went down to 15.7 and settled in at 19.2. I included my November rounds, so it may be a little lower but it is a good reflection of my year. I think if I can get it to 12-15 next year my golf school will have paid off.

At one point this summer I made it down to 10.3 - ...and then the wheels fell off. Ended the year at 14.9. Managed to play 120 rounds this year which was great fun including the last round on 29 Nov. Wore a black armband today as I cleaned and put away my clubs

If I had put all my November rounds in then I think I woujld be around 7. However most of those rounds were played under lift clean and place rules. So I did not bother to put the scores in.

So next year I have to work hard on lowering it back down to around 6. If I can get it down to that number I will be happy.

Mitchell next year Golfbum? and bring up the gang from St. Thomas

Oh yeah for sure Harry, Mitchell is on the list. Not sure if the rest of The Darkside will come but I will be there. I might have a chance to retire and cash in on the big cash buyout. If that happens there will be plenty of golf!

Have a Handicap of 20, figured out for me by the golf course I shoot regularily. I know the Slope of our course is 109 and the Rating is 65.0, but I have no idea how they figure it out. Can anyone help me with a formula.

My handicap will be reduced to 0 once someone makes the proper equipment - I've tried it all to date, TM, Cleveland, Callaway and my latest experiment being Wishon component irons.........nothing helps.

But, as soon as the top manufacturers forget worring about MOI, launch angles, gear effect and all of that other "Geek Speak" and get down do designing a wireless dual-stick, 10 button, analogue/digital controller that will properly interface with my Titleist I'll rule the golfing universe - I kick Tiger's butt on a regular basis with the proper equipment in my hand

This year it's gonna drop like a stone. Everytime I got my ducks in a row I'd pull my back, or have to change drivers, or get messed up with ball position etc...

I've stopped worrying about how far up the ball is, I used to play everything pretty far back, so I've improved on that, but I'm not gonna sweat it anymore if my ball is back a bit farther than most, baby steps. I've also unified my swing, so it's not like, one swing for driver, one swing for irons.

Got a driver and 3 wood and putter I like in the bag... Nothing but green lights baby!

Actually, play a HARDER course. For me I shoot about the same on a 74 rated course as on a 70 rated course. Miss about the same number of greens, get up and down about the same. The 4 strokes make a big difference on the index though.

I think that is why my HC is coming down instead of going up. The way i'm playing right now I should not have the handicap that I do. Why best 10 out of 20... lol...

Short game, and putting at your level.

Still, 0.2 is great golfing! Go for the LQR for the U.S. Open, and the Canadian Open!

    Cheers!

    Now at 0.2.

Just when I thought, "I got it," it slipped away. Why does it slip away so quickly and come back so slowly? Stupid game.

Ended season right near 11. Of course I immediately ballooned in the 13s at the beginning of the year as the new ESC rules definitely came into play with my erratic play. Struggled with the driver all year, but when I could find my tee ball my improved short game helped me sneak under 10 at one point (a couple of mid 70s on 130+ sloped/72 rated courses sure helped). Hope to get the driver settled down and get back under 10 this year.

Currently 8.5 but I am starting to consistently shoot in the 70's. that being said I play the same course everyday.
