    PGA Grand Slam on TSN...

Umm, can anyone tell me what the heck the 'digital barker' channel is?

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A barker channel is a TV channel that is used almost entirely for promotion and advertising, usually marketing various features of the service carrying the channel.

There are several of these channels on digital cable systems and especially on direct broadcast satellite systems like DirecTV. On interactive TV systems, these also allow for ordering of pay-per-view TV programs or other pay TV services. The TV Guide Channel can also be considered somewhat of a barker channel, though it now carries a lot of full-length programming.

Barker channels are normally free-to-view or occasionally free-to-air, even without a subscription. This also indicates success in installation of satellite systems, and particularly in aiming small satellite dishes.

I think it's supposed to be on channel 82 on rogers, which is the sports preview, 'barker' channel.

OK so I watched the Grand Slam from 7PM to 9PM on BEV 402. I don't know which was worse, that jazz music that came on when TNT went to commercials, or Bobby Clampet's annoying voice.
That man is annoying, he is the Rod Black of American golf coverage!

How about the look on Mike's face when his drive bounced off something in front of the 13th green to give him an eagle attempt! Classic!
My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

If there was ever an event made for PVR, it's this one. Commercials after every round of shots...

I was watching the grand slam last night on channel 407 (Rogers). Weirsy was playing good until he airmailed the 8th Green and doubled

What's up with Weir's pre-shot routine these days? He looks like he is putting all his weight on his front foot (ie reverse pivot) in his practice swing, yet his full swing looks ok. Bizarre to say the least...

What the hell is with this jazz music every 5 minutes.. They just showed Tiger and Furyk hit their drives on 12 then back to it.. They only showed 2 shots!! This is horrible.

It is painful to listen too. I want to watch the golf...but can't handle the music every 5 minutes.

Typical, these days, golf coverage. Ony show the contenders. Shows the stupidity of it when there are only 4 golfers playing.

I saw a couple holes yesterday - and only one of Mike's shots because he was already out of contention.
