    Golf Town Golf Club

I have joined their club which gives me RCGA membership status and an official RCGA handicap factor. AS well the option to play in Golftown Tour events at a discounted rate. Pretty cool stuff. There are some other perks as well. Anyone else join this? Check it out let me know what ya think

Wow--seems like a lot of money to track your handicap--you can do it for free here--and you will probably meet a lot more great people here---and I never pay anyone for the privlege of buying their good or advertising for them---just my .02 worth
    Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

Fair enough. I though it was nice to have RCGA membership since I don't belong to any one club. I play all over and do not have an official HC factor. There golf tour seems interesting as well. 80 bucks is a few boxes of balls, no biggie.

The important difference is that the Golftown Golf Club is an official RCGA handicap. As such it allows you to play in RCGA organized/sanctioned tournaments.

The handicap tracker on this site is not official, although it uses the same formula.

BTW, the GAO Public Player program also give you an official handicap costs less.

I saw that. However this club make you a GAO member as well as a RCGA member.

These programs are great if you plan on playing in other countries which require handicap cards at some courses.

    Not sure I follow you.

With the GAO Public Player you become a member of the GAO and RCGA at the same time. The same is true of any RCGA licensed club. Part of your membership fee goes towards your RCGA membership.

Just to clear up anything for those reading this, our tracking software is official, just as the software you find in your club's computer is official.

What is not official is using this software or a club's software to calculate your handicap unless you are a member of the RCGA.

Nat, just to clarify, it is not sufficient to be a member of the RCGA.

You actually need to be a member of a club, which is also a member of the RCGA, which is also using officially sanctioneed S/W, to get an official handicap. Note that a club can either be a real club or a club without property, which is how the Public Player and presumably the GolfTown club are setup.

If you simply join the RCGA as an individual member, you will not be able to use this site's handicap service to maintain a legitimate RCGA handicap.

This was the point I was trying to make with my original post.

As a member of the Golftown Golf Club I am also a registered RCGA and GAO member is what I was saying. If having an official HC factor is important to you this is a relativley cheap alternative to joining a golf course as a member.
