Well I for one couldn't care less, I have Rogers because I'm not technically allowed to have a Satellite dish at my apartment. I hate Rogers with a passion, not so much the employees, but the company itself and its inane policies (TSN not being included in basic cable for instance).

If I had my choice of pay services I would probably go with Star Choice, just because from what I have seen, you can get some pretty good pricing on your service (check out the RedFlagDeals forum if you are interested).

Basically its all the same until you crack open the HD side of things, then you just have to look a little closer.

I can't wait for Google and other major players to get the networks other providers on board with TV service over the internet, maybe then we'll see some reasonable price plans from the cable providers, because I just love having one real option for TV at the moment.

Rogers for a couple of reasons.

    1. No extra compression of HD channels. Unlike the satellite guys, we get the full 19.4 Mbps of MPEG-2.

    2. No simulsubs in Ottawa. This means I get to watch all the primetime shows on the US feeds thank you very much. This includes the SuperBowl.

Donny you should switch for this reason alone.

Rogers HD PVR baby!!!! They also offer the most HD channels around to my knowledge. Hopefully more shows will start filming in HD soon!

Nope, Bell ExpressVu has the most channels I believe and according to their advertising. Rogers wasn't even close when I had them for my HD provider.

I have used ExpressVu for roughly the past 4 years and have been very pleased with the service. I have friends and/or family that have Rogers and Starchoice and I did not feel they offered better service.

I was under the impression that for the SuperBowl last year that Global was simulsubbed over the US feed.

This was a hot topic on the AV forum that I read.

On normal football days they don't usually bother but last year they (Global) made sure that their coverage was on Bell.

We had friends over to our place to watch the US feed.

I have Rogers currently but am thinking of going satellite. I am not voting on this poll because I agree 100% with covanant.

Why would you use a satelite that is affected by weather, when the Rogers set top box is not? Plus, there is no need to for a satelite and receiver, and no need for a dish on your house? Makes no sense to me, it's all about the Rogers HD PVR, although I do agree their all too expensive!!!

    None of the above

I do not plan to give more money to mentioned companies (so I have basic cable). Same applies to phone\cell phone services…

    30.00 phone
    30.00 Basic cable
    40.00 cell + long distance
    45.00 internet
    ??.?? Long distance.

Monopoly is way to expensive… Try to buy a cell phone and activate that in bell…no, it has to be one of theirs…..Try to get a PDA with internet… 60.00+ plus for data, can’t understand if you’re business is more expensive….

Open the market! Otherwise, the market will open you… I.e. I have an IP phone from MX and I pay only $9.00 a month and I can call as long as I want (and relatives can call me for free)… so bye-bye long distance for now… so no overseas calls (by the way, MX is not overseas yet they charge you and call it like it is, why?)

    Rogers all the way.

    1. ROD is great to have. Rent, Pause, Rewind movies at the touch of a button...anytime.
    2. Never had my service go out.
    3. I will never, ever put a satelite dish on my house.

It's extremely rare that I lose my signal, I think it's happened twice. I remember that was a big advertising campaign from Rogers, harping on the signal. And what's wrong with a dish? My whole street pretty much has dishes, and we're in a posh neighbourhood! LOL!!!

If you check the by-laws you'll probably find that there is one prohibiting dishes......all it will take is one A-hole neighbour and you'll have to move your dish or perhaps get rid of it entirely. It's happened to a buddy of mine.........TWICE in different neighbourhoods

I really mean that over 80% of my street have a dish, some even two. If someone complained he/she would get lynched!

I'm so put off with the whole thing I dumped my cable 8 years ago now. Any time I miss it (when some event or other is on), I can always go to someone else's place... Drives people crazy when they come for a night and can't watch the game, they have to actually TALK to each other.

Hmm, was hoping to garner some good info in this thread cause I am really pissed at Rogers right now and considering Bell, but with some of the comments I am seeing/hearing, not sure if that would be a wise move?

Yeah, it's definitely a lesser of two evils scenario when comparing Rogers and Bell.
