Scottish Glen
Has anyone played or heard anything about the new course called Scottish Glen (or something to that effect).
It's just outside of Carleton Place off highway 17...in Scotch Corners...
Driving by one day and it just popped up out of nowhere
Wondering what it's like, green fees, etc

Read an article about this one in the citizen a few days back. It is a 9 hole course that just opened. You are correct, Scottish Glen is the name. They are just testing the local public opinion this year and will open for real next season.
Apparently it was built by the owner and his friend by hand with an ancient dozer and back hoe. It took them 16 years of summers and $500,000 to build it.
I'm going to have to get out to play it in the spring.

Played it a couple of weeks ago - narrow, half the course is really up hill and down hill. Needs yardage markers, only had 150's. Paid $15.00 - okay value, wouldn't pay much more though.

Once again, Phoneman flies into action! I looked up Scottish Glen and got the Flagstick Online listing. Then I called the number listed and I get the feeling it was his personal number.
Anyhow, they're still up and running. He's says they'll probably wait at least another week and a half before opening. Just way too wet. It's still a nine hole full length course. He gave me his web address too, which doesn't come up easy on Google:

I have a friend who lives up that way. I think I'll try to check it out. I've got to say the idea of building and running your own course is living the dream.lol. Got to see what he pulled off.

I drove in to take a look at it last summer. It is at the turnoff for Clayton (to the right) and Scotch Glen (to the left). As you go down the road, don't blink because there is only a small sign on the left hand side to indicate that there's a course and the road going in makes you feel like your heading into someone's cottage.
It is a little 'rough' to say the least. I would consider it a weekend afternoon cottage course - good for the family to learn the game of golf on without any crowd around and at no great cost. The $15 figure is about right for the condition and the facilities.
Great article ... I wish him the best of luck in making it a success!"If profanity had any influence on the flight of the ball, the game of golf would be a lot easier than it is" - Horace Hutchinson (1903)
