Bunkers
Hi, just wondering what the ruling is for grounding your club in a sand bunker after you've hit your shot??
No stroke penalty??
Thanks,
Ty.

Before making a stroke at a ball which is in a hazard, the player shall not touch the ground in the hazard with a club.
So, if your shot gets you out of the bunker, you may touch the ground in the hazard with your club.
If your ball is still in the bunker after your shot, you may not touch the ground in the hazard with your club.

So Gary, if I hit a shot from the bunker and it doesn't get out, and I get a little upset and hit my club down on the ground (similar to Notah Begay III on Friday), do I get penalized just because the ball didn't get out??
Now, obviously I would not receive one if the ball did make it out... and in this case it is an act of frustration. :shakehead

You get penalized for touching the ground in a hazard with a club before making a stroke at a ball which lies in hazard.
