    Unlocked Cell phones

    Does anyone have any experience in buying an unlocked cell phone either from eBay or elsewhere? Looking for thoughts/advice/good place to buy.

    what provider are you with?? I have two cell phones with rogers right now and you are looking to go with rogers then they don't need to be unlocked

    I have 2 Telus phones, a Samsung flip phone, and an older model. Both have phone, charger, box,manual, etc....
    Lots of yoga pants these days, not enough Yoga!

    I bought my current phone (Blackberry 7280) off ebay unlocked. It was zero hassle to connect to my Rogers account. I know others who have done the same, and they've had no problem either. Just ensure you're buying the right kind of phone (GSM vs CDMA), and you'll be fine.

    Thanks for your replies. I'm not looking to buy a used phone since I know what I want but was just wondering if anyone has bought a phone from a 3rd party and if it's as simple as inserting the Rogers sim card in it.

    That is interesting, I gave a colleage of mine a Rogers cell phone and it was nothing but a royal PITA - at the end of it I had to go into the store with her, present my ID and sign a waiver that the phone wasn't stolen and that I agreed to have it transfered to her.

    Because of that I never considered buying an unlocked phone - glad to hear that it doesn't have to be a hassle
