Looking for a Membership 2007

Hi everyone,

I'm looking into getting a membership at one of the local courses in 2007 and I live in the south end of Ottawa (for recommendations). I was hoping that I would be able to pick the brains of some of you as to where you are personally a member, how members are treated at your club, tournaments held at or by club. Basically, give me the skinny on clubs in the area. Ultimately, it will come down to a club that is challenging to me and that meets my eye, but any help would be great.

Also, I'm not adverse to ClubLink, but my budget would come in around $1750-2000 for a no-strings membership (anytime weekends/holidays). Also, what about couple memberships? My girlfriend wants to get into golf and wondering what packages they offer for those?

Obviously, I could go to the websites and check it out, but your comments would hold some weight in my decisions. Granted, I'll have to test the courses out first!

Anything you could provide me with would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. IMO Meadows is the closest good course to you, Metcalf is the organized and the best deal for the $$ and Emerald Links is the best course in South Ottawa. all are within your budget.

Does Meadows even have memberships?? Don't think so, maybe player cards but that's all.

That's tright Faldo. No real membership at the Meadows. Just the frequent player card.

Emerald Links would be my third choice after Rideauview and Carleton Golf and Yacht club. Meadows would not even be in consideration, they hold way to many tournaments for a club I would want to be a member at.

Sorry faldo for the misinformation about Meadows. I was a member at Metcalf last year and enjoyed it. I am going to consider the new Anderson Links for next year. Playing it Wednesday and will post a brief review.

I live in your area. I agree with Pinshark about Rideauview but it is expensive and I find Carleton too far and a little boring.
