Good movies from the last 365 days

What movies have you recently seen that have come out in the last year that you really liked? They can still be in theatres. After my month of hell I plan on sitting down, vegging out, watching movies and eating junk food

Pirates 2 was really good. Superman was okay....but definitely worth seeing purely for some of the special effects...see it in IMAX 3d if you can. I'm definitely looking forward to Borat and TPB. TPB comes out on the 6th of October, and I can't wait.

just saw jack ass2.. its hilarious!!!! Borat is going to be awesome. They say he got a letter from kazikstan saying they were going to sue him... should be interesting to see what happens. Anyway, I've been watching him for years, since he first started in the UK... the man is hilarious!

ya...kahzakstan ain't to happy about it - they don't seem to think people can differentiate between borat and reality. They've decided at this point just to ignore his existence altogether.

It says it's his final "martial art epic" movie, but I heard on TV the other day that he has another movie in the work with the guy from Transporter 1 and 2, im assuming it won't be comedy or romance...

I second the recommendation for The Departed. Alec Baldwin's the hidden gem in this one - he's absolutely awesome in only fifteen or so minutes of screentime.

    The Illusionist

Took my wife to see "The Illusionist" a couple of weeks ago at the cheap seat theatre. I am not a movie fan, only go once or twice per year. But this one blew me away. On a scale of 1-10, I gave it an 11.

Thank You for Smoking was great. Aaron Eckhart plays the evil guy that is just impossible to hate. There's a boatload of great talent in this movie.

Death of a President was surprisingly good. After getting through about 5 minutes, I didn't think there would be anyway I would finish the movie. That A&E biography kind of feel didn't seem to work at first, but I watched the movie late at night and I didn't drift off at all. I'm not sure this will be liked by everyone, but contrary to what the title and plot summary might lead you to think, there didn't seem to be any shots taken in the movie. I liked it and would watch it again.

And I'm going on record right now and saying that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be awesome. I saw a preview before Happy Feet (yeah, yeah, shut it) and it looks great. I like the books, I like the movies. Say what you will, but while they are no literary masterpieces, they are DAMN GOOD STORYTELLING.

Anyone for a game of Quidditch later?

I saw this a couple of weeks ago and thought it was a total snore. To each his own I guess.
Has anyone seen Borat, or is everyone waiting for it to hit video?

Borat was fantastic. I haven't laughed that much during a movie in a long time.
