Driver shaft in a 3 wood?

This question has probably been aswered before, but if someone could give me an answer that would be great. I have a grafalloy pro launch 65g regular flex standard length driver shaft, that I want to put in a 3 wood(which has a steel shaft in it right now). If the driver shaft is cut down, will it affect the stiffness of the shaft? Will the shaft even fit into a 3 wood? What will the weight be like...will I have to get something done to make the shaft heavier? Let me know. Thanks.

yes it will make it stiffer and yes it will fit with a plug

If you tip trim it, it will make it stiffer for sure but if you take it off the butt, it will not make as much of a difference

How so Richard? The 3 wood head is heavier. THAT WILL OFFSET THE SHORTER LENGTH.So not necessarily stiffer. Why would you use a plug?
Anyway. It will fit 3 wood head. If you know who put it up try to find out how much tip trimming was done AS THEY DO NOT RECOMMEND TIP TRIMMING MORE THAN ONE INCH tops. See w2 under this shaft trimming code

Weight can be added to the head if you want to obtain a specific swingweight.

Thanks for the replies...is there anyone on here that would be able to put this shaft in my 3 wood for me or should I go to golfworks or Artisan to get this done?

if the shaft is .335 and the head is .35 then you will need a plug. Why is the shaft heavier? he is taking a driver shaft (prob 65g) and cutting it from the butt down about 3 inches, maybe even 4. That will make it stiffer for sure

I did not know what you meant by plug. They call it a shim. In clubmaker,s terms a plug means something else. Logically he should tip trim a bit. And we don't know how long he wants his 3 wood and how long the driver shaft actually is. The 3 wood is also heavier than the driver head so that changes the shaft's flex.

Just one concern. Is the shaft a .350 tip or a .335. What brand is the driver and 3 wood?

Hey if the shaft is the .335 tip and you want to sell it I might be interested

Not sure the tip size...but the shaft was pulled from a nike ignite driver and the 3 wood I want to put the shaft in is a taylormade 200. Let me know if this will work.
