Shaft for a lower ball flight

I don't know if this question even makes sence, but I'll ask it anyway.

I currently playing an original TM R7 that has the stock MAS2 stiff flex shaft in it. The head has a 10.5* loft. Problem is that I hit this puppy a mile high and I'm sure that it is causing me unnecessary distance loss.

Is reshafting it a viable way to bring the ball flight down or am I barking up the wrong tree here??

FWIW - I hit ever club in my bag very high (lms - if you are monitoring this I think that you'll agree that hit the ball fairly high).

Any thought, comments, suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    1) I hear that the Grafalloy Bi-Matrix proto is great at lowering ball flight (they claim in the 30% range). I would also consider anything from UST (IROD, Proforce, V2) as they tend to be more tip-stiff. My experience with their shafts has always been positive.

    2) How are the weights set in the head? Try putting the heaviest ones forward and the lightest ones back. Should help a bit.

When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

Thanks LW, I'll play with my weights to see what effect that will have.....Maybe this is the excuse that I've been looking for to get one of those Pink Bi-Matrix protos

Height in and of itself isn't going affect distance too much.

If you are getting a "ballooning" ball flight, that suggests a swing related effect. Specifically, if you are hitting down on the ball with the driver, you'll get too much spin and lose distance due to the ballooing effect.

Either way, if you want a cheap experiment, I have one of the original BiMatrx shafts kicking around in the shaft graveyard. It was originally in a 3W but I extended it so it played 44" in the last driver it was in.

Yours for $20 . LMK if you're interested.

I hit my driver really high this year and thought I was losing some distance because of it. Moved the ball and lowered the tee and lately I've hit the ball much lower and closer to what I figured was a good trajectory to improve my roll. Total distance of my drives has changed basically nil, however. Weird.

Why not first try seeing where on the club face you are hitting the ball? Impact tape will show this.

If most contact is on the upper half of the face, where the loft is higher, lower the tee height.

    Hey Scott,

I have an impact label you can have. I also have a couple shafts you could try.

The head design for certain and perhaps a swing glitch is causing the high ball flight. Why do people believe that the answer lies in the shaft. It does not. The shaft transfers the energy developed by the swing to the ball. The positioning of the center of gravity and the loft of the clubhead are the 2 major contributing factors of trajectory,in that order.

Because if they can't blame the equipment, they may have to blame the real cause of the problem.
