    News From The Ryder Cup

It appears that weather might play a major role in this years Ryder Cup at The K Club.

Yesterdays morning practice rounds were called off due to high winds. 40 MPH winds blew early prompting organizers to bring everyone in off the course
( I play in winds like that at my course That is what we call a 3 club wind )

You can read all the latest news on the Ryder Cup at Sky Sports. IMO by far the best way to keep abreast of what is going on at the Ryder Cup.

Looks like the winds died down for them , Europe pairings today were:
Group 1 - Jose Maria Olazabal and Robert Karlsson, Sergio Garcia and Luke Donald
Group 2 - Darren Clarke and Lee Westwood, Paul Casey and David Howell
Group 3 - Padraig Harrington and Colin Montgomerie, Henrik Stenson and Paul McGinley

I think Westwood and Clarke playing together is a given. Those two play well in the 4 ball. They have in the past. I honestly feel that Darren will really perform well. I saw his interview the other day and he seemed to be in pretty good spirits considering. He said one good thing that has come out of the death of his wife is the fact he is now spending more time with his sons. Playing on home turf can only help his attitude.

Well I have seen those photos mentioned in that article. Not porn, but she sure wasn't wearing a bikini. Either that or it was great photoshop work.
Philly Mick says he knows nothing about the photos, sure sure Phil

Chopra is not BROWN! He might be Indian but he sure looks like a white guy, specially that blonde hair!

Singh plays in the Presidents Cup. If those others you mentioned want to play then they have to pick their games up and get enough points to be on the team!

Maybe you can start the PUNJABI CUP? How bout that "RICHARD" ?

It's DANIEL not DEEPAK...he was born in Sweden so I don't think he would qualify for team India. Personally I think Ghandi has a pretty solid swing, he should be on the team.

The photos are not real, not only that, the magazine (The Dubliner) pretty much called all the US wives skanks. This just fuels the US teams fire if you ask me.
Apparently The Dubliner has been banned from the K Club this week as well.

Actually, he may have the only loophole that could allow him to play in both the President's and Ryder Cups. One parent is Swedish and the other is Indian.

I find this quite odd, but why has the US team made 3 paris of "long" and "short" hitters together while europe only has 1 of these types of pairings. I would think that you would the tee shots of a pair to be "sitting on top of each other" so that the first to shoot can show their partner the reaction of the green, confirm club selection, etc. (some of the pairings have a 2-3 club differences). What is Woods going to learn from Furyk on a par 5, except that his partner can't make the green in two.

Am I missing some relevent information or nuance?

The first and fourth matches should be the most interesting with Americas big guns.
    Go Europe.

I think the US pairings of a "long" and "short" hitter is interesting as on par 5s you'll have one guy maybe going for it in 2 and another laying back for an "easy" birdie, as each player in fourball is playing there hole, best score on the hole wins, so let it fly.

It's a great tactical move by Lehman actually. Perfect for first day jitters. Putting a bomber with a steady player is a great way of guarding against a pair giving away a hole, and forces the other team to beat you with birdie, or better. And the bombers can look to "catch lightning in a bottle" on the par-5s. (looks good on paper anyway)

Forgot to mention... One of the issues with a setup like this, while it creates physical separation between teammates so they can concentrate more on playing their own games, it offers the possibilty of making mathematical errors. It's imperative that you know exactly how many shots your partner lies, at all times. Peter Jacobsen and Brad Faxon made the same error in 1995. Jacobsen picked up his marker lying 3 on the green with a put for par, thinking that Faxon was already in with 4, but in fact it was a bogey. The team score was 5, and they lost the hole.

TSN have it from 8:00-18:00 Friday, 8:00-18:00 Saurday and 7:00-12:30 Sunday.

It's on one of the American channels on Sat and Sun too.

One thing to bear in mind is that is not live so if you don't want to spoil the excitement, stay away from the internet. 1st match is 8:00 BST tomorrow, therefore 3:00 here.
