News From The Ryder Cup
It appears that weather might play a major role in this years Ryder Cup at The K Club.
Yesterdays morning practice rounds were called off due to high winds. 40 MPH winds blew early prompting organizers to bring everyone in off the course
( I play in winds like that at my course That is what we call a 3 club wind )
You can read all the latest news on the Ryder Cup at Sky Sports. IMO by far the best way to keep abreast of what is going on at the Ryder Cup.

Looks like the winds died down for them , Europe pairings today were:
Group 1 - Jose Maria Olazabal and Robert Karlsson, Sergio Garcia and Luke Donald
Group 2 - Darren Clarke and Lee Westwood, Paul Casey and David Howell
Group 3 - Padraig Harrington and Colin Montgomerie, Henrik Stenson and Paul McGinley

I think Westwood and Clarke playing together is a given. Those two play well in the 4 ball. They have in the past. I honestly feel that Darren will really perform well. I saw his interview the other day and he seemed to be in pretty good spirits considering. He said one good thing that has come out of the death of his wife is the fact he is now spending more time with his sons. Playing on home turf can only help his attitude.

And then there's crap like this...
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

The first and fourth matches should be the most interesting with Americas big guns.
Go Europe.
I find this quite odd, but why has the US team made 3 paris of "long" and "short" hitters together while europe only has 1 of these types of pairings. I would think that you would the tee shots of a pair to be "sitting on top of each other" so that the first to shoot can show their partner the reaction of the green, confirm club selection, etc. (some of the pairings have a 2-3 club differences). What is Woods going to learn from Furyk on a par 5, except that his partner can't make the green in two.

Forgot to mention... One of the issues with a setup like this, while it creates physical separation between teammates so they can concentrate more on playing their own games, it offers the possibilty of making mathematical errors. It's imperative that you know exactly how many shots your partner lies, at all times. Peter Jacobsen and Brad Faxon made the same error in 1995. Jacobsen picked up his marker lying 3 on the green with a put for par, thinking that Faxon was already in with 4, but in fact it was a bogey. The team score was 5, and they lost the hole.

One thing to bear in mind is that is not live so if you don't want to spoil the excitement, stay away from the internet. 1st match is 8:00 BST tomorrow, therefore 3:00 here.
