John Daly
Will this drunk ever stop blaming beer on his lousy golf game? How come this society chooses to embrace these lovable losers and defend them at all costs?
He was a better player when he was drunk he shoulda stayed that way. He beat on his wife and kicked the bejeezez outta some old man in the parking lot of a tour stop...but could do no wrong in the fans eyes.
Now he says that if he one the "John Deere/no talent" Classic it would be his greatest win ever?
Yah, better than an Open and PGA...riiiight. Keep blaming the booze and pressure.
I'll admit it he made great storylines...but come on when you belittle the 2 majors you have won by saying a Tournament that Jeff Sluman has a chance of winning would be a greater victory in my eyes you are twice as much of a loser then the media and yourself have already portrayed.
Now come on John! Chug a couple of Old Milwaukee Lights, spark up a Camel and start grippin and rippin it again!
You lifted your head...grrrrr!

I think John realized he is not an alcoholic, just a drunk. There is a difference you know, drunks don't go to stupid meetings
He may not win a major, but if he plays a few rounds under par every week and maintains his card, he'll win again. Jack Nicklaus commented that John seemed to be at peace with himself, surely the best course of action.

i agree that if he stays sober he can play very well for along hitter. He does have the ability around the greens when he is "at peace with himself". I watch him a month ago on tv and he was doing a fine job for someone who hasnt played very much.

I am not so sure the field was all that weak. There were 9 Eurpean Ryder Cup players.
Padrig Harrington who was in the final group with Daly is #2 on the Euro tour.

good for john...its nice to have some characters
on the tour..drinking or not, he is a great golfer
with tons of power and a pretty good short game.
i think id rather watch him than tiger...
you never know what will happen, but it will
be entertaining either way

bravo John
It may have been unlikely that he beat such a strong field in Europe, but then it was unlikely when he won a PGA. Either way, he had the game at the right time in the right place, and his name is now part of the trophy.

Cudos to Daly
Way to go JD!!!
There is no denying this guy is blessed with talent. I was very lucky to see him up close this weekend and was blown away. He was polite, professional and seemed very gracious and touched by the overwhelming appreciation and adulation he received. The crowd following him rivalled Tiger's. To see this guy up close really gave me an appreciation for this guys skill level as a legitimate pga player and man can he blast it!!!
As for his personal life and adventures off the course I have to say that although it makes a great storyline it will not stand in the way of my opinion of him as a great golfer and the excitement he brings to the game. His presence this weekend created sheer electricity especially on Saturday when Tiger's had gone by(all 10000 of them). This guy may be misguided and been to the edge but that is no reason to discount his abilities and what he brings to the package..Prior to the BCO he had moved up to 82nd in the world rankings. Not an accomplishment achieved by many!!

John Daly is the type of a person that will probably have a movie made of his life "IF ONLY"
Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

JD will have to go to Q-school to get back on tour as he is not making any friends with his sponsor exsemptions. He withdraws most of the time when there are more ambitious pros waiting in the wings. He is burning too many bridges and I predict he will fall off the map beginning next year. What a waste of talent. A real shame.
