HSBC World Match Play
So, mid-way in the first round 36-hole matches:
Furyk is 5-down to Karlsson, through 19.
Woods is 2-down to Micheel through 19.
Mike is 2-up on Scott through 21.
I wish I was home today.

Micheel was 4-up thru 17, but Tiger is coming back: Micheel 1-up through 21.
Furyk, now 3-down through 24. Looks like he is going to get some rest this weekend.
Mike is now 3-up through 29.

Tiger has only won 5 of the first 30 holes.
It's Miller Time for Furyk.
Mike moves on.
Goosen exited very early (6&4).
TGC makes mistakes. Campbell won 3&1.

The World's #1 Player got DUSTED by the 75th ranked player in the world. ShaunMicheel steamrolled Woods to win 4 & 3 OUCH
#1 Woods #2 Furyk Big Ernie, Goosen and Scott all gone in the first day.
Woods and Furyk can head over to the K Club and get some practice rounds in!My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

Looks like Tiger's current streak is over.
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

He still has a consecutive stroke tournament record going

Is this an 'official' event? For example, if Weir wins does he get an invite to the Mercedes event reserved for 2006 that kicks off the 2007 season? Does it count on both the PGA and Euro Tour money lists?

No he doesn't and it doesn't count towards earnings wither. Its like the ryder club. If you lose a match there or win all your matches there.. it does not count towards any kind of streak

Thanks, that's what I suspected. Odd how many media outlets have it wrong, as they're proclaiming that Tiger's streak is over...

Agreed, hasn't played well lately, but he is a good match play golfer. Check out how he destroyed Ames earlier this year."A life lived in fear of the new and the untried is not a life lived to its fullest." M.Pare 10/09/08

You might be right Hacker. I just don't think match play motivates him like stroke play. In stroke play, he gets a chance to beat over 100 golfers. Stroke play, at most, he gets the chance to beat 64 golfers. And in some cases its not the best available talent in the world (Simon Khan???)

Wasn't surprised by all the "favourites" losing today as anyone who is playing well can win over 36 holes. The Casey/Weir matchup should be a real tough match and Monty and Cambo could also be interesting. If you want to here some funny Brits announcing golf early in the morning, tune in here,

Micheel was only 5-under through the 33-holes he played with Tiger yesterday. Tiger was 2-under.
Today,
Micheel is 9-under through 22, and killing (7 UP) Donald who is 1-under.
Mike (+2 through 24) is 1-down to Casey.
