Comparison requested: ProForce65 vs. Prolite 3.5 (both S-Flex)

Can anyone tell me how these compare? I love the PF65 and am looking for another. On the other hand, I have a PL3.5 that is not shafted but have never played it. Any experience with both of these would be appreciated.

I don't think you'll find much of a difference between these shafts. Both have very similar characteristics. Firm tip, low torque (same value I believe). About the only difference I know between them is that the PF is a little heavier. I've hit both shafts and ball flight and feel were very similar. If anything, the ProLite felt a little softer (maybe not as firm a tip)????

    Hope this helps.

Agree with Geoff. These used to be my two favorite shafts in their day as they played very similar. If you like one you will surely like the other. Both are very tip stiff.

    Disagree

Prolite stiff is stiffer than proforce stiff (65 gr version)

Are you sure Reid? Just one quick note. Every year every component company spends a lot of time and money profiling shafts. I am surprised to see that not too many people use that tool when selecting a shaft. Take the Golfworks for example. (other companies do it as well ). If you look under the playabilty factor
http://www.golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_PF65W you can pretty much compare 2 different shafts. The Proforce stiff has a 4b1m profile and so does the Prolite. http://www.golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_TT202211. In other words both shafts will perform pretty much the same.

This link provides how the playability factor is determined.

Interesting observation Jeany. I was using a Prolite 3.5 S+ shaft and found I got a much higher ball flight with my driver than a ProForce 65 s-flex. The PF had a much lower, penetrating ball flight. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

These charts are nothing more than a marketing tool for golfworks to speed up the process of selling shafts. I think your buddy BC would second that. Any good fitter would never use these charts as a tool.

    http://12.106.66.20/Dynacraft/graphi...SFA2006ch4.pdf

much more accurate than Golfworks and it will tell you which one is stiffer

Also worth noting in the DSFI is that they now measure relative tip stiffness.

Thanks for all the info guys. It was interesting, although I already know and ignore those charts.
I think I'll keep judging my shafts the old fashioned way... by feel and frequency meter. Regardless of whose chart you use , these two shafts both fit me

I'm with you on this one Reid. Trial and error for me. If I was to go by GW's charts, I should be using X-flex shafts. No way, have tried them before, way too stiff.

Maybe the chart says so, but to me, the PF felt stiffer. Just a feel thing I guess. Always seemed like the Prolite loaded and released better for me. Whereas the PF always felt a little boardy. Just my opinion.

For some of us trial and error is the best way... fun too

I understand where you are coming from. Have you ever profiled shafts? BC has not profiled each and every shaft that's out here. Simply impossible.Rather I believe he purchased Wishon's data done by PCS members. Back to Golfworks. I beg to differ. It is not a marketing tool. The testing on all shafts were done using Iron Byron. The machine does not take under consideration over the top moves nor big inside out swing however it uses different swing speeds and the data is recorded.

My point exactly. Using one swing and varying the swingspeeds is useless to me from a fitting standpoint. You have to incorporate the feel variable and Byron don"t feel !!

    PF65 vs PL35

    Guys,
Played twice on the weekend. Both shafts work for me.... Hopefully, I'm all set for a while.

    Thanks
