The Marshes
I see that the Marshes has changed its fee structure - 110 including taxes, http://www.marshesgolfclub.com/engli...rseFees_e.cfm.
They've also added a VIP membership that looks interesting. It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.

Rather expensive, what was it before this. Is it worth it?
Do they have a half day or dusk rate.

Although I have yet to play it I have heard good things about the Marshes. It was $100 plus tax last year but you also got a voucher for $15 (I think) at the clubhouse/proshop. My take on it is that the 9 and Dine ($50 last year) was your best bet all-round.
Colby:
Where did you see anything on this VIP membership? All I found was the "VIP Club Rentals".

I played the course last year on the nine and dine. Great value considering cart and $30+ meal was included.Last edited by Colby; 02-28-2003 at 09:13 PM.

Doh! Don't I feel silly. The firewall at work must have had an old copy of the page cached.
Interesting package, but still way too expensive.
I'll bring my $50 and be anyone's friend though!

expensive but worth it
the 100$ green fee includes a gas cart (value 30$)
which brings you to the same price range as eagle creek.
besides it's to spoil yourself once in a while and treat yourself to a top quality course.

wrong but still worth it
CiscoPat
the cart is only $15 per layer not $30 each so Eagle Creek is still cheaper at $85 including cart

Huum...
Eagle Creek VS Marshes
Eagle Creek VS Marshes
Eagle Creek VS Marshes
Eagle Creek wins hands down. Those tree lined holes and the peacefulness of the course are just amazing. You feel like you have the course to yourself.

I thought the Marshes also includes free use of the range. If so, when coupled with the time savings, savings on gas and less wear and tear on the old auto compared to the drive all the way out to EC instead of right here next door to the office in Kanata, I'd say EC and the Marshes are a wash financially.

powerlefty,
It's not a battle you can win. I have a feeling the EC vs the Marshes will go on for a long time. Things like cost and manditory carts, the established presence of EC, the fact that it has played home to CPGA tournaments, some people will always prefer it. And that is their right.
I usually play EC once a year. For me the cost and the drive, plus the bugs, make it a special event. I played the Marshes twice last year, and for a young course, I found it very nice to play. Will I go to EC again, probably, but I wil definately be going back to the Marshes.

Being able to see it from your office is not a good thing.
I wouldn't be able to concentrate on work.
