One other thing , find a lie similar to your golf balls lie , and take 5 or 6 practice swings before you think about hitting your shot , and keep your head down (obviously) !!!
I'm in the same camp, I use a gap for all my pitches and chips unless circumstances demand otherwise. I've been told that Phil likes to stick to one club so we're in some good company.
