need some help picking a cameron
I was thinking newport, circa, phantom mallet, red x... anyone got any suggestions in picking the putter? I know its all about feel and because its a surprise I can't very well ask my friend what he wants. I dont' want to hand over a credit for the amount cause it doesn't feel person. Anyone know anything about this stuff?

Go with a style similar to what he plays with now and let him know he can exchange for a different model.
Like you said, putters are very personal things.

Newports are very nice and not crazy expensive ... also, their finish does not require maintenance.
Circa's require some maintenance, so it might be a pain in the ass (the finish could rust).
Personally I like Napa's (more reasonably priced and more available right handed), and the tradional styles like the newports & circa's ... not a huge fan of the Red X & Futura.
If you are looking for a mallet, the red x and futura (in particular) have had mixed reviews ... for mallets you should be looking @ a Detour ... not my cup of tea, but they are getting great reviews. If he likes mallets then this could be the perfect gift ... also it's OTR so he can always exchange it w/o any troubles.

ATM there are no OTR napa's available ... the Napa Valley is on its way though (unfortunatley a limited release).NCGT Ryder Cup Team Green (06,07,08)

Circa have a softer feel.. The studio style line has a crisp feel.. Then find something that suits your eye and stroke.. I have a slight inside to inside stroke so I like blade style putters.. Love my Studio Design and Circa 1s..
