Well I did call back and after he checked my a/c he said that their machine had cut people off indiscriminantly and that the business manager would call me back tomorrow as they have to put it back on manually. So I will find out tomorrow I guess. My take on it is that it depends on how big your account is, because they won't tell you anything without looking at it first.

Dan,
Did you ever get a call back from anyone at Rogers? I have been holding off changing my service to Bell until I hear what they will do.Proud member of the 2009 OG/TGN Ryder Cup Champions

Call and complain and they will give you the sports pack free for a year providing your seriously pissed regarding the increase! The Golf Channel 410 can be a part of the sport pack! The sales reps have the power to do this don't let them kid you!

I never got a call back. I did'nt really think they would. After 3 calls I got nothing.
When the PGA goes to the Golf Channel I'll get it because I'll watch it. I'll drop something though.
I don't have the option of switching to satellite (no dishes allowed here) so I have to go along with whatever they do. Nice eh?

Here's the email I just received in response to my email to Rogers. Looks like I'll be waiting at least a year before I change my services.

after talking to a service rep, they offered 1 year. After asking for a supervisor and telling him I was ready to pull all my services I got 2 years. I told him we would talk again then.

If you have a digital cable box the Golf Channel is only available on channel 410.
If you have a TV with a built in tuner for analog cable you can still get it on channel 71, free of charge for the time being.

I just got a bill from Rogers today and noticed an added charge of $2.57 despite them telling me that I was going to receive the Golf channel free for a year. What con artists they are.
Everyone, check your bills and see if you were charged too.
I quickly called back (waiting about 10 minutes for an operator though) and the operator was very apologetic and he immediately credited my account. He also offerred me a "theme pack" of my choice for 3 months, but I turned it down because I would have to call back to remove it within 3 months, else I will be charged for it.
Rogers is really starting to tick me off.

tell me about it. I just moved and if I wasn't paying attention to my bill (which is 5 pages long I might add), I would have been charged about $32 to reconnect my service despite the fact the person I talked to when I was changing my address told me it was free. After talking to 3 people, the first of which was so stunned he couldn't understand what I was saying and then transferred me to another (wrong) department, and 24 minutes on the phone with them, they credited my account. Frigging brutal.

I finally got my 2 years. Hard to be happy even with that. Nobody called me back.
Our HD PVR went south today after about 18 months use. Glad we rented it, apparently there was an issue with power surges in that model. Anyway when calling to get the new PVR initialized, they asked if there was antything else so I asked about good old channel 410. I was instantly offered a year. So I asked for two. I was transfered to another person (thought I'd blown it) and got my 2 years because I was a "long term client with a good package of services". Bring on the Hammer! ... POW! OK OK, so I really want the next 2 years of PGA Tour coverage.
Keep at 'em and call back if you are not getting the two year offer.

I got a free year for myself and a friend. All you had to do was call within like 5-7 days of the switch and be polite. I talked to 2 different people and told them I lived for the golf channel and was dissapointed it was gone. They said blah blah we have to charge now and i said ok but that sthe primary reason I even have cable. they said well Mr. X we'd be happy to offer you one free year and then you will find a charge of $2.50 for each month after that grace year.
That easy that simple. If your nice people are generally niec to you. Now you can always get a mean operator but tahts just luck of the draw I guess.. And either way it's $2.50... Yes $2.50!
If I haden't had golf channel how would I of watched the 1963 Shell Wonderful World of Golf from the Netherlands, Byron Nelson vs someone lol

The reason you did not get free TGC is because Rogers knows you are a COUCH POTATO and that you will require your FIX OF TGC. So they just know you will pay for it being the addict you are!
I have Bell, I dumped Rogers years ago. Reason why, the signal was constantly crappy, lines in the picture , static etc. Rogers kept telling me they were doing upgrades. Yeah Right.
The only program I miss by not having Rogers is the London Knights games on Rogers Cablecast channel. Other than that I am good with Expressvue. My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

It being gone on 71 is a whole other problem for me now I have to watch it on the 1 tv that I have the digital box. I am going to be looking into expressvu I know they had a deal for multiple receivers.

Check your Rogers bill....Good luck with that battle
Question
Explanation of monthly fees.
Answer
Monthly fees for your plan and options are billed one month in advance. If you are a new customer. you will see two month fees on your first bill – a partial fee for service from your activation date to the end of your first billing period, and a full fee for your next month
