    3 iron shaft in hybrid?

In response to my ongoing love-hate relationship with my Hogan hybrid, I'm considering reshafting with a 3 iron shaft. Has anyone tried this? Did you like the way it played? I haven't looked at the hosel bore yet but I'm assuming that I'll be able to fit it with a pull from my "collection".

Opinions and advice welcomed. Thanks in advance ...

    What's currently in it?

If it's currently shafted with graphite then any steel shaft could help. I know for me I can't hit light shafted clubs in general.

If it's a .335 bore then you can just put a steel wood shaft in it trimmed to 5w or 7w specs. If it's a .370 bore then a 3i shaft would be a good bet.

It has the standard Apex Edge graphite shaft in it right now. I don't yet know what the hosel bore is but it seems that once you get away from the standard 3-E sets, the Hogan hosel bores tend to be a bit of an adventure. I've had some wedges that should have been taper but were not ... I'm curious to see what I have once I have this one pulled.

I had been thinking of my hybrid as more of a 5-wood replacement than a long iron replacement but I'm finding that distance-wise, it's closer to a 3-iron than a 5-wood so why not set it up more like my irons ...

Some hybrids are designed to be hit like irons, i.e. more of a descending swing that will take a divot as opposed to a sweeping swing like a FW wood.

That being said, wood shafts are generally more tip flexible than iron shafts which help contribute to a higher launch.

My hybrids are designed to be hit like irons and use a wood shaft and have a remarkably high ball flight compared to the 3i/4i they replaced.

    Thanks guys.

I've seen posts on offer sites indicating that although the specs are listed at 355 taper, they've actually found them to be 370. Given my odd experiences with a few older wedges, I'm still skeptical. What's that saying - buy once, measure twice then buy again ?!? Something like that isn't it ...

    Thanks again.

Anyway if you replace it with a 3 iron shaft it will come out close to 39 inches. Just keep that in mind i.e club lie and swingweight. You did not say which hybrid. They run from 38 to 42.25
