Do you carry a copy of the RCGA Rules of Golf
Since joining this community and reading, with interest, all of the little nuiances to the Rules of Golf I realized how little I really knew about the rules so I bought 2 copies of the RCGA Rules of Golf - one that I keep at home and 1 that I keep in my bag.
I think that it would be interesting to see who actually keeps a copy in their bag, and who just has everything memorized

For me, I play golf to enjoy myself and relax. I don't need someone quoting the rule book to me. If you play in a tournament, then by all means. But for fun on a Sunday, nah.

I'm with fundonny on this one....unless you are playing in tournaments, for money, etc, I don't see the need to ensure that I am within exactly 2 club lengths for a drop if you are out playing with your friends....is it clsoe enough? yup...ok, on we go.
I like to get out and smack the ball around, but still keep a handicap to track my progress (and yes I know its not a "valid" handicap)...

I keep an official RCGA handicap. You have to play by the rules and the book answers all questions.

I play the game because I enjoy it but I do carry a rules book and I have actually read it .
I don't use to quote the rules to my playing partners, I use it to get myself out of some of the sticky situations I tend to find myself in.
Do I always follow them while playing with friends - well nope, but I enjoy knowing what I should have done if I was playing in a tournament.

Not yet, when I start to keep a handicap then I will.

I carry the 5 pound tome which not only covers the rules but the decisions. I may not always be able to find the answer that I'm looking for, but it sure makes one look knowledgeable!

I carry a 5-6 year old copy of the rules book but I haven't looked at it in about 5-6 years. I obviously don't know all the rules but I think I know enough to get myself out of whatever situation I find myself in.
I also kept a copy in the "little boys room" so I could learn the rules but that proved to be way too boring.

Not for general play
I don't keep a copy in the bag because it would generally not be productive. I usually play with a select few other hackers, so we do bend the rules on occasion. However, I do find it interesting to compare notes when I get home and see what the official statement is for these conditions. And yes, I do make a note of the rules so I know what to do the next time. Golf is a learning game.
Cheers,
Tim

I used to carry the rules + decisions, but it was too hard to reference on the course, so I've downgraded to the smaller book and keep the big boy at home. I have USGA rules, though, not RCGA.

I have two copies---one of each--they keep each other company on the little shelf in the john
Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

I don't buty I should. Every Sunday without fail an issue comes up. Normally w/ the same guys. It's not for money just good old fashioned bragging rights and franky lots of people haven't figured out that the rules of golf can't really be used for your favor. They are there and as thorough as they are to prevent people from using them in order to benefit them lol. Every week we get into a debate.
This week: Can you use a wedge on the green if your 30 yards away. I say hell no. HE says yes because he saw Jim Furyk do it once lol.
I really should carry one but I'm not much of an analyzer maybe if they had it in computer format that you click and search... I'd be down for that.

I don't think that the rules of golf prevent you from using a wedge, but the course owner may have something to say about it

you can certainly use a wedge, or any other club if you like, there is no rule as to how or waht club you can use at anytime
