Cobra experiment

I'm wondering if it is the shaft or the head.

My regular driver is Cobra's SZ 400 11* offset with the Aldila F Speed ("regular") shaft which advertises a "mid kick." I'm not huge long and lose a lot of distance because I tend to balloon but I'm usually quite straight. Avg drive about 210 - 220.

I've used my club's demo M Speed for three rounds now, the M Speed 460 10.5* offset with the Aldila M Speed ("regular") shaft which advertises a "low kick." Results have been not quite as high and a better roll - still not as much roll as I'd like to see - but about 20- 30 yards further on average and still quite straight.

So is this a function (and I know you don't have all the info here because you don't see my swing and transition etc.) of the head being larger or the shaft being a better fit? Or is it both? Just would like to hear some ponderings, musings, or best guesses.

What would be the characteristics of a swing that fits an OEM marketed "low kick" better? Because of my geography a fitting is not an option.

I had a 365 driver head last year with a low kick shaft and was hitting about 220 yards. I have a 460 head with a low kick shaft this year and am hitting staighter and longer than ever. I also cut about an inch off the length of the shaft about 2 months ago and since then noticed even more straigher drives without losing any length.
