Vancouver golf courses and golf stores
I'm going to Vancouver for a couple of weeks and would like to play a round of golf there. What golf course would you recommend. I also want to check out a couple of golf store in West Vancouver, any recommendations?

The three main golf store chains in the greater Vancouver area are: Golfttown, Nevada Bob's Golf and I think, Riverside Golf. Not sure which have stores in West Vancouver though....pretty sure that GT doesn't have a store in West Van.
Some of the top 100 courses in Canada are in the Vancouver region (Scoregolf 2004):
4. Capilano, West Van
24. Shaughnessy, Van (site of a recent Canadian Open)
73. Marine Drive, Van
97. Point Grey, Van
I believe that the City of Vancouver has three municipal courses including: McCleery, Fraserview and Langara.
Check out this website: http://www.bcgolfguide.com
Good luck.

If you get a chance, play Northlands in North Van. Fantastic course, though quite the walk on some holes. Only $59 during the week and $63 on the weekend. Highly recommended. Also, Mayfair Lakes in Richmond is a decent track as well. Great clubhouse and range also.

Try the University Club if you are in the West End
It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.

just as a heads up.
I also played northlands and loved it. some very fun tee shots. toughest walk ever though.
Langara was very very very very wet and kinda basic, but if you are looking for a flat, easy track, then this is your place.

Bear Mountain in Victoria has a slope rating of 149 on the very back (golden) tees and long too (just over 7000 yards). Not sure if this is the highest slope rating in Western Canada, but it must be in the top 3 or top 5 for sure.
Northlands' back tees have a slope rating of 135 at just over 6500 yards.
For comparison, the #1 on the America's 50 toughest courses as recently described by the Golf Digest, the Ocean in S.C. has the highest combination of Slope Rating (155) and Course Rating (79.6) in America.

Vancouver golf.
You have to play the UBC Golf Club. Its at the University, very old style course, lots of huge trees, traditional course. Probably one of the best golf experiences I have had. You can get on early, the pro shop is neat, but the golf is pure. Great deal too, I think I paid $60 - well worth it.
