Grand Niagara.
Best course in the area, but again, pricey.

Play the Niagara Parks course in Niagara Falls. This beauty is operated by the Niagara Parks Commission. It's a wonderfully challenging, but fair, layout, which is always well conditioned. Affectionately known locally as "The Parks", it's good value for money.

You have to play Whirlpool. Its around $90, check the twilight rates - its a Stanley Thompson course, and it is a fair challenge. Tree lined, great holes, small but fair greens - you will be glad you did. Not many of these old style courses are available for play to the public - most are private, like Hamilton GCC, so if you get a chance, Whirlpool is it.

We (me) are looking for a fairly wide open course that isn't to punishing for guys with wild swings like me so even if i don't hit the fairway.. I'm still good The advantages of organizing the event

Richard:
I guess that I wasn't clear enough. The course for you is the Whirpool Golf Course operated by the Niagara Parks Commission. This parkland course is of sufficient width that you won't lose your golf balls when the errant shot is struck. The only penalty will be that you will not score well if that happens regularly. In this regard, it is like Augusta National. There is room to bomb it, but there is a tactical price to pay for errant shots. I'd rate this 9 out of 10 for your purposes, but I'm biased having played the track in the early to mid 70s some 30 to 40 times. My friends of all skill levels (this was especially so when we used to play the First Greater Polish Open there, but that is another story) and I used to have a good time each and every time.
Play it. I guarantee you'll enjoy it.

Sorry Dick! I think the fees just went up to play Whirlpool or Legends in Niagara! They have had a 30 second commercial 3 or 4 times in the last hour on the Championship.

looks like a good course, on the second day I might go there with the real golfers but for the group.. that course is to much $$ looking for something at most $40, doesn't have to be crazy or anything. I will play this course on the second day, just me, the bachlor and two of the better golfers who can actually enjoy the course

I'm in town with the family for Marineland visit. I see on the map, the courses are within few minute driving distance. Brought a couple of clubs and will see if their ranges are open to public...

Is that why he's fundonny? Is he a betting man or just like to give odds
Another sunny day at the fall, we did the quick detour at Thundering water on our way back from Marineland, didn't have much time with the kids nagging. In addition to the fine courses advertised on paper, there are several smaller courses all over the region.

how do I find out what those smallers courses are? If I do a search for golf in that area I only get the big ticket clubs. Maybe I'll just get my casino host vincent to take care of all the arangements

The Legends courses are real nice...if your game is on. I was annoyed that they had what seemed like a swarm of 100s of groundskeepers bombing around on John Deeres cutting grass and raking bunkers all morning when we were playing.
Eventually got sick of waiting for them and figured "what the hell, they're wearing helmets."
Makes the bunkers more of a hazard as they aren't perfectly smooth; the big rakes on the back of the riding mowers leave furrows in the bunkers.

BTW: there's a short par 3 course right across from the road from Marineland. Literally next to the road, we saw a ball resting next to the shoulder of the road, I'm guessing that was from an errant shot...

We do an yearly golf tourney and travel to niagara.
We always go to http://www.niagarafallsgolf.com/
It is fairly wide open, they don't mind when you overindulge at the beer cart (which comes by so often, you can't go a hole without seeing them), and the price is about $30 walking, or (ask for Toni or Jackie for special)$58 including power cart, hot dog at turn, and one free draft beer.
We stay sometimes at one of their several houses on course for about $40/head, or like this yr, stayed at http://www.goniagarafalls.com/kingsway/default.htm which is a fairly clean motel right next door to course, and right next door to...ahem...the Sundowner which some tell me is the best strip joint in the world.
ps at kingsway ask for Nick and a deal on the kitchen suite, features a kitchen and two bedrooms, with three beds.
5 min ride to Cairn Croft bar to watch drunk cougars, or 7 min ride to new casino.
Good luck.Last edited by sharkhark; 09-03-2006 at 12:23 PM.
