    Buick Open

WOW MIKE WEIR GOES CRAZY at the Buick Open today in Michigan. MINUS NINE, yep -9 folks. On the back 9 he strung together 5 birdies in a row for a smooth backside 31. 32 on the front.
Now can he maintain that pace? Let's hope so.

That figures. I pick him in the fantasy pool, and he plays like a rookie. I didn't pick him this week and he discovers his game. AMAZING. But, seriously, I couldn't be happier for him and his legions of fans, if he won.

This is a tough track to win on. It's so easy (for the pros) that anyone can hit a 62 at any time. I hope he hangs on, but Vijay and Tiger, and to a lesser extent Furyk, own this course.

You gotta love the Golf Channel's coverage of the Buick..I just watched the 7:00 am Gof Central updates from the day before..Mike shoots 63 and it takes 5 minutes of "Tiger talk" to get to him...all the discussion was "Can Tiger win this week? or is this a tune up for the PGA?"...I wonder how low Mike would have had to shoot to get top billing ? 61? 60? who knows.....

Unfortunately, it all comes down to sponsorhip. Doesn't Buick pay Tiger a trillion dollars a year.

Yep--I wonder what will happen next year when the PGA swithes to the Golf Channel? I am a Tiger fan but my god there are other guys out there too--Maybe these commentators should learn how to attract more attention to the other guys--therefore making their commentary more interesting. I have read more meaningful thoughts in this forum! OH OH did I start a new thread?
    Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

Mike did play a monster round but it’s only the first round. The first round leader almost always disappears on the weekend. TW on the other hand is just three back. That’s his office. When you see Tiger three back after the first round you just got to like the odds of him winning or having a T5 come Sunday. That’s why the media are all over TW.

    Mike “not Weir”

Mikey, shoots a 73 today and falls back into a tie for 20th. Lost money right there. He was the only guy in the Top 20 who shot over par.

Unfortunately, this is becoming all too predictable for Mike. Either his swing is suspect (which I don't believe) or his confidence is fragile (which I do believe). Unless he can overcome the latter, we are going to see quite a few mediocre rounds from him. That's a shame.

And that’s why they talk about TW and not about MW.

You misunderstood my post. MW= Mike Weir

This post was in reply to an earlier post in this thread.
