    How much do lessons cost?

3 years ago I took a lesson as an intro to golf from an assistant to the pro at a driving range. This week I booked a driving range lesson with the head pro at my home course. There was quite a difference in cost.

Now I understand they had different titles and perhaps qualifications but the difference was about triple.

So my question is - how much do you (or perhaps should I) expect to pay for a single lesson? Did I get a great deal 3 years ago? Or is this new guy charging too much? Or, is it just that I don't know how much the going rate is and am unjustly taken aback?

This summer I paid $40 for a 1/2 hour one-on-one with a CPGA pro. Took one lesson to improve my irons (was hitting them thin way too often), and also one lesson on putting. Seriously the best money I've spent on golf this year. Total cost $80 including GST.

My handicap index has gone from 22 to 14 in the past 21 games.

I'll be going back for another lesson on the short game as soon as I have time.

    Worth every penny.

Hopefully my game will get better from here. I'm new so we had a lot to work with because my swing plane is (hopefully soon will be a was) very flat. I'm also really muscling the ball too much rather than letting the club swing. Ironically, he felt I needed to become more of an arms swinger and I thought that was my problem. HA. Anyway, lots of good stuff to work on. I'm just sort of dreading that first round tomorrow where I try to incorporate some of this and my game goes south for a while. But I can really see where eventually this will pay dividends. Great guy and a great session - plus he stayed for an hour and a half at the range with me, so kudos to him.
