    Downswing Trigger

What swing thoughts/trigger do you use to initiate the downswing?

I was having great success with Hogan's turn the left hip but this has fallen apart.

What I do is feel my maximum coil with my shoulder turn and this kinds bumps my shoulders back the other way and when I feel that I use it to start the downswing.

I am abidextrous, I once golfed right-handed and now I shoot left-handed just as badly!

Predictably. In looking at Hogan's swing on tape or in pictures, you will notice that his hands/arms drop almost vertically at the start of the downswing. So explain how a turning(horizontally) of the left hip(Is the right hip not connected to the pelvic girdle as well) causes a vertical drop of the arms. It does not and cannot happen. Hogan only FELT his left hip turn.

Decide which motion is paramount, and only 1 is possible. (a) a turning of the left hip, or (b) a dropping of the arms.

Go to the top of your backswing and stop. Slowly turn your left hip left. What happens to your shoulders/arms? They have to come over the top. Now go to the top and drop your arms back and down. What happens to your hips? Now the decision is easy.

The hips/lower body will move targetward in anticipation of the arms dropping down. Just let it happen. How many downswing keys does one need in his arsenal? NONE. But the more you have the more frustration you will have, too. KIS&C versus KIC&I
