The Creek
Only in town for about 3 more weeks now, and I have to play Eagle Creek at least once each year. Only have two weekends of golf left as my bro is getting married in a couple weeks. Anyone interested in playing the Creek with me? I was thinking maybe this Sunday would be a good day, perhaps around 4 (for the discounted green fees), but I would not be entirely opposed to paying full price. (I'll just have to buy cheaper beer for frosh week).

Ahhh froshweek! The best time to make a great first impression on easily impressed frosh women. Oh the memories!

Sounds good to me too Jon, twilight is much more reasonable in price there.
Any day between now and Sunday works for me as well.[COLOR=DarkRed]"Friends don't let friends use Internet Explorer"

Anybody in the foursome interested in playing some matchplay (or perhaps a skins game?)
-

Match play, sure. We are always really close in score.

I need something to keep my mind off of the fact I have a score to settle with this course. I figure I will score better playing smart than playing "Must Cut Corner" golf.

I have score to settle as well, on 18. This time I am going for it, playing it safe into that bunker net me an 11 last time. I just could not get out of it.

I've gone for it on every risk reward hole, every time, some more successfully than others
Last time on 18, I hit what I thought was the perfect drive - onto the peninsula, about 10 yards short of the water. Keep in mind, as you have seen, there is no such thing as roll on my drives...they hit, an often hop back a foot. Anyway, I get to the peninsula, and my ball has managed to roll into the water. So, I take my drop on the downslope of the peninsula (damn 2 club lengths rule) and hit an absolutely perfect 5 wood, about 25 feet from the pin. Drain the long bending putt for a 3 shot par. Possibly the most frustrating golf experience I've ever had.

First time playing there..... helpful hints would be nice

hit it where you aim it
Seriously though...I'm not an expert, but when I was there for my yearly round about 3 years ago, I was there the weekend after they held their CPGA event - they had a few very detailed yardage books left and were giving them out for free with the round. Knowing how many yards deep the green is isn't always useful to a hack like me, but knowing the exact width and distance to a few of the shortcuts was crucial - I'd be glad to share the knowledge with anyone in our group.

So, what time are you going to get to the Creek at? Do they have a range there? Do we have a fourth yet?
-

yep, we have four - me, you, zoic, and pinshark. Not sure when I will get there. They do have a range, but I don't usually use it. I will probably aim to be there at about 330 though.

The FREE yardage books should be still around. Look on the table to the left as you enter the front door of the main building.

you're right, they do still have free yardage books, but they're not the same ones as tthe one i got a few years ago. The ones they have now are done by computer, show the entire hole, and give a little description of the hole. The one I got a while ago was hand drawn, with yardages from every single sprinkler head to both the front and back edge of the green. Both are fantastic, and are even better when combined together. The only problem is, with so much detail, there is absolutley not excuse for over or under clubbing

If you guys want to come out for 2:20, we'll have 15 -20 guys with scores that range from par to a 100. We all play a $20 skins game and we get green fees for $45 instead of $75. There for for $65 you get to play earlier and you are in the skins. You can play the appropriate tees as well. Most guys play the tips buta few play the blues and a couple play the whites. We start at 2:30 so be there by 2:00 if interested. We do this every week, all summer as well.
Hope to see you guys there.

For me the whole point of playing late is to save money, not bet it on my poor golf game. I would rather spend it on a power cart, at least it has some value to me. But really I just wanted to reply to ask you, do not think it is a bit tacky to come in and try and break up a foursome after is has been all setup.

Actually no. I thought I would see if the 4 of you guys wanted to join us seeing as there was mention of you guys playing your own skins game. You guys could have still played together at an earlier time for the same price and had a chance to win some skins and meet new people...but I think your answer is quite apparent. I hope you enjoy your round today.

OK, first I want to apologize if I came off as a bit crusty there. I guess in my mind I was thinking we have a great foursome put together, it would be a bummer if two dropped out at the last minute.
The other thing that was going across my mind was that this was the first I had heard of your regular Sunday skins game, which begs to ask, why do you not start a new thread to announce for anyone interested in joining in. It sounds like a good deal to start earlier, and I am sure you all have a great time playing for a few dollars.[COLOR=DarkRed]"Friends don't let friends use Internet Explorer"

Hey guys, anyone renting a cart today? What are the green fees?
-
07-30-2006 10:25 AM #27
I would like to share a cart. Green fees are $45.00, cart is another $15 each I believe.
