The 2006 Callaway Golf Junior World Golf Championships is taking place this week at a number of different courses throughout California, including Torrey Pines. Of the over 1,000 entrants, 73 countries will be represented. Canada has a total of 49 golfers spread throughout the various age categories, and is the only country outside of the U.S. and Mexico with that many entrants. Through one round, Canadian Adam Svensson sits tied for first after shooting seven under in the boys 11-12 division, and Brendan Brown of Canada sits alone in second in the boys six-and-under division. The Junior World Golf Championships were founded in 1968. The inaugural event had 475 participants. Past entrants of the tournament include Notah Begay, John Cook, Dorothy Delasin, Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson, David Toms and Tiger Woods.
