I stick to a 7.2 HDCI. Although I have no proof.

With all due repect Farzin, without documented proof of a valid handicap index, a player has no index at all and must play at scratch if they are even allowed to enter an event in the first place, as I have done for the last 2 years at the Garrison Open. I play that tournament with my friends, and even though I know that I'm nowhere near scratch, I have no proof otherwise because I don't have enough official rounds in at that time of year for assigning me to the proper flight.

With respect to Farzin, we all know he shot a 77 in the Citizen tourney, so if you want to put him at 5 based on that, I would find that a reasonable compromise to using scratch.

Mike, if you can't make the actual tournament I'll be presumptious and suggest that you might want to host a match at one of the Clublink courses.

One thing I can do is, if my playing partner decides to play a CL course, invite another match play duo to join us.

I'm at 18.5.

I'm in the west-ish end. Not too far from centre though.
My only issue is, as I have said earlier, I will be leaving late in august (the 19th). So with 2 week rounds, I won't be able to finish (assuming I make it that far ). I would still very much like to participate. Should we assume that, if I have to leave town before I am out of the competition, the last person who I defeated will take my spot? I figure we should clarify this now rather than later.

jonf, if you keep winning matches and the tourney has not concluded yet, the next scheduled match you are to play would most likely be forfieted. Its really the only way to do it. I will discuss this with Rez though. But not really fair if you beat someone then they get to come back one round later in the tourney. We'll try to come up with some sort of resolution in those cases.

True, it wouldn't really be fair if someone lost a match and then came back to win. I had just been thinking that if I made it all the way to the final, it would suck if there was no winner because I had to leave (although obviously the other person would be considered the winner).

I'd say if you can't commit to the full schedule you should withdraw before it begins. Just my opinion.

Obviously stuff happens and people may have to forfiet for various reasons, but if you already know you can't play in the final match if you make it that far, then it's not fair to the field.

One thing that could happen is, if you know you wouldn't be able to make the next match (if the player won of course) they could always forfeit that match and then just play that day for fun with their opponent and the opponent will move on to the next round. But we'll figure something out.

Sheesh! took me all day to get to the bottom of this thread. I'd be interested too, but I guess missing the posts for the last 12 hours has put me on a waiting list.

I have a valid index, I haven't checked it in a week, but it was 10.1 & isn't really moving.

Why oh Why did I get posted to Montreal this summer, I would have been all over this tourny, it sounds like so much fun and the pressure of match play would have been great. If only ther was more of us from Montreal on this forum......

We should see more from Montreal & Toronto coming in soon. We have ads running on the Weather network golf reports until the end of September and we are seeing trafic to those sites rise. Still well behind Ottawa, but it's starting to get busier.
