Joined the dark side, 460 cc driver
Finally fast forwarded 20 years on driver tech from my old persimmon and have had a couple rounds swinging pretty good to check it out.
The biggest plus is it doesn't move left or right as much as the old clubs. The first round I played it saved me two strokes on the 3rd at Champlain when with what would have a road ball enmded up in the right rough.
As far as distance goes I've inched up my best drives on a couple of holes, but nothing huge. Good shots look spectacular, but don't always end up any farther than the old wooden driver used to crank it. Keeping the trajectory down seems to be the key, I'm hitting it higher than I want to a lot of the time. Also I have somewhat of a compact swing and I swear I can feel the extra wind resistence on the face.
Overall though it's putting the ball out farther and keeping it on the fairway more of the time and has been lot's of fun to hit.

Regarding driver upgrades, that should be it for a while.Kind regards, Harry
