The New Golftown
Looks like it's going to be about a five minute walk from my house, on Belfast, at the Ottawa Train Yards. I can see my bank account shrinking unless we find a new house soon!

Where did you see that? I heard there was a big Walmart going in there as well.

Where'd you hear this? I heard it was more likely going to be in Orleans.

Yep, Walmart is opening in September. I read it this morning in an Alta Vista newspaper.

Me either. I work on Trembly Rd. I think many of my breaks will be spent walking around GT. Going to have to start leaving the bank cards at home when I go to work.

I think that the high-ups at GT have been watching the forum, collecting data about big club-ho's and have used the data, along with the help of Google Maps to decide upon a nice money-making local.

Awesome. I was just driving past the trainyards on the weekend, looking at the obvious Walmart building and wondering what else was going in there.

I also heard GT was coming to Orleans sooner than later. Maybe next year?

I have a hard time believing the Ottawa market can support three GolfTowns in the short term.

Well I thought I would take a swing by the site this morning on my way in, and if I'm not mistaken, I believe I saw Mr. Johnston sitting in a lawn chair out front with a hard hat and an giddy/eager look on his face.
Then again it was early and I could have just been imagining things.............Let's put a Smile on that Face!

Just got an email from golftown head office in Markham, and they said that they don't have any plans of putting another Golf Town in the Ottawa area as of yet....

Building is going on furiously. There was an article on the development in the Citizen a week or so ago and the manager for the mall specifically mentioned that Golftown would be a tenant.

I was playing golf with a Golftown employee on the weekend and he mentioned that it was to open in October/November time frame. Just in time for Christmas shopping.

The Wal-Mart has been there a while now. It's like some "secret" Wal-Mart, I went in at Christmas to get a toaster and I think there were 5 cars in the parking lot. Can't wait for GT, no more half hour drives to look for stuff.
Food goes in here..... it sure does.
