Average scores..
This thread may have already been done, but it's a new season and I'm wondering what people shoot on average.
Also interested if you're getting better from last season, worse, or still playing the same.
Thanks

Worse, way worse. Was averaging rounds from 74-77 last year. This year have only broken 80 three times, but usually between 80-83.

18 views and 1 reply? What's wrong? Is everyone that ashamed of what they shoot to post? I'm just curious and promise I won't hold it against you.

Not ashamed, just don't know what to post this year. Last year I was a consistent (but inadequate) 90-95. This year my rounds go as follows: 85-101-103-93-96-113-99-92-99. I am all over the map.

At the beginning of this year I was much worse. Now I am better than the end of last year. Last few rounds have been 94-91-91-97

My handicap is up four strokes from it's low point last year.
Does that answer your damned question.

My scoring is about 10 strokes fewer this year. Sadly, that means I'm just now flirting with breaking 100. 102 last night. But I'm still shiny, I'm so brand new to golf.

10 strokes fewer this early in the year is AWESOME!!! Good work. I, along with quite a few others apparently, am up significantly from last year, so you're doing something right. At that rate, 100 shouldn't be long.

I learned how to use my wedges and am keeping the ball out of the bush. Starting to figure out how to hit the ball from those side, up, and downhill lies now also. Anything but a driving range lie was murder for me last year.

jonf; that sucks that the best round was first game got your hopes up lol.
I shoot 100 give or take 5 probably. A true 100 though that includes the 3 or 4+ times into the woods from the tee everything lol. No point in reverse sandbagging!

My handicap is up one point from last year's finish so I guess it's ok considering I'm playing like crap this year. Usually I play 74-79 but this year I have one round below 80 (77) all others over 80 but under 90 which makes it somewhat acceptable considering I hurt my back pretty bad a few weeks ago.

Last three have been 89 , 88 , 89 , apart from a few triples on each card i should be mid 80's , consistancy getting a little better though. Last year was pretty similar , but i hardly played at all. I'm hoping for low 80's by the end of season.
At the end of the day ... It gets dark

You're not kidding. First time I'd ever broken 90 (par 67 though, so it doesn't really count..bogey golf though.) The worst thing is, it was a warmup round because I was going to be playing two very nice and rather expensive courses a couple days later, and didn't want to be throwing away money. Funny how the golf gods work...and by funny I mean i want to punch them in the face.

My first 5 rounds of the season go a little like this 107, 97, 96, 102, 102. I usually average about 94-95. So not bad, this year I've just had a few rounds with a couple of real bad blow up holes usually on par fives.
I'm also playing all new clubs from driver down to putter, so no panic yet, the season is still young. Will hopefully get back out this week to make amends.

After shooting the fairly consistantly in the mid-90s at the end of last year, my average this year, after 11 rounds, is 103.5. However, I finally broke 100 last Thurs with a 96. I'm definitely striking the ball better, but one poor shot per hole is KILLING me! The highlight has to be the 240+ drive on Hylands #4 North last week! That's really good for me. Then, a nice high 8-iron to the green. Missed the putt, of course! Still, looking forward to some better scores now. Off to Greensmere in the morning...

last year 77-82
this year 78-89
absolutly no consistency.

All over the map here too. From about 83-100, but most commonly about 89-92. Now for sake of finding an average, I would simply put it that my average score on any given hole is a bogey.

My average score at my home course this year is 79.77 and for all my rounds including a month of playing in Florida is 80.97. When I checked I thought it may have been higher with all the away games but I'm pleased with only a 1.2 stroke difference.

low to mid 80's with vary rare (only twice this yr in 70's). Lately in a funk with high 80's/into 90's. it happens.

Only played 3 games this year so far (no longer a club member) so I have shot 81 - 83 - 80. That is slightly under last years scors which averaged 83 or 84.....

Looks like a lot of you have shot worse this year compared to last. What are some of the changes you've made if any? Equipment? Swing?

the conditions have been crapphy in ottawa. It's been very very windy. For me I'm plahyign the best golf of my life. I haven't had a swing thought in a month. all I practice now is my short game. I'm getting close shooting and breaking par soon. I've broken par on a few nines but I can't put 18 together.

Shot a 63 on Sunday.... it was a 4 man scramble, though, & only good enough for solo 7th place. Otherwise, I've had 4 consecutive 41 9 holes, a horrible 95 at le sorcier, and a few others between 81 and 89. Still waiting to go below 80 this year...
