    Stupidly easy

    WooooooHoooooo......just re-griped my first club today,a putter.
How incredibly simple,i cant believe i've been paying other people to do this!
Next up,a set of irons from a-z.
Anyone have a rec. for an inexpensive shaft extractor? Can one be bought that does both steel and graphite?

The best shaft puller out there is JB's hydraulic shaft puller. If it can't pull it, nothing can.

You don't need a puller for steel shafts. They can be twisted off.

I made a cheap extractor using my vice in reverse. Very primitive but with a bit of practice I have become fairly good at extracting graphite shafts without butchering them. Just don't ask me to do it quickly! Since I am only a hobbyist club maker I could not justify plunking down the $ for a real extractor (plus I felt I should put my $50k mech. eng. degree to some use).

I got this one from ebay as a second chance offer, I did not win the item originally, I got an email for a second chance offer. I wrote the guy back and basically told him that I would take it if I were to pay my bid price. He agreed and the rest is history. This is an excellent shaft puller for the price and the service from the seller was excellent. It will go in a vise or can be screwed permanently.
