Yeah I"ve heard upright requrise way more skill and timing which is why alot of Pro's do it but teachers hsouldn't be teaching your average amateur. Like if your 30 and starting... Your not going pro most likely lol

    One Plane - flat
    Two Plane - Upright ...

That kinda thing. I"ve been trying to remember what I learnt when I got lessons I know it was very one plane and I could effortlessly hit the ball far. Key word is could

    lol I'm still not sure

I rebuilt my swing over the winter after seeing tiger's swing in freeze frames, and then comparing it to several touring pros, and noticing that they don't bend their lead arm in the swing ... now my lead arm does not bend in swing either, and I'm finding that although it's hot & cold atm, when I'm on I'm hitting better than ever before. I am confident that the change will drop my scores once it's 100% ingrained in my mind.

Is that enough to determine which one I am lol (man i'm useless @ this)

I have one iron set that is 2* flat... 58* 5iron... and one that is 4* upright.... 64* 5 irons.
So I guess you could say "in the middle"

What I think my swing type is and what my actual swing type is are probably not the same.

I think my swing is more flat than upright. My actual swing type is probably pretty close to David Feherty's description of Jim Furyk's swing: like an octopus falling out of a tree!

Too upright or too flat are not desireable.

If you have a "One Plane" swing you are ON PLANE which is perfect. Some would call that FLAT, but it is not. So, if your left arm is on your shoulder plane at the top - PERFECT. If it is below your shoulder plane - FLAT. If it is above your shoulder plane - upright.

Most golfers then, would be upright(too), some would be ON PLANE and very few, if any, would be truly flat.

Stand very upright however swing is...very ..very flat. Trying to get more steep for more backspin thru ball.

I find the flatter the more consistent I am. I was 100% upright last year
