    Hi all,

New to this, so here we go - glad to be part of the gang, I live in otttawa, like to play golf not very good at it but like the outdoors, shoot in mid 80's. like to play at least once a week sometimes twice, but usually try to get out every weekend, most always single, golfer that is, don't mind playing alone, meet alot of different people. like to play anywhere, within reasonable driving distance.well thats all for now but will here from me alot more.

Welcome to the forum! 'I'm not very good, I play in the mid 80's'????? Do you know how many people in here would love to consistently shoot in the mid 80's?

I don't want to down anybody by that, but when i'm browsing the post, must of you guys are shooting low 70's. I've been playing golf for over 35 years and still have a hard time breaking 80's , that's why i said I play in the mid 80's. I would like to be consistently in the 70's instead. Its not that I don't practice, I'm on the driving range at least 3 times a week, practising the shour game, inside 100 yards

Man, I'd love to shoot in the mid-80's. Wait, do you mean as in score, or time period? I meant the actual decade.

Believe me Mr. Bean I didn't feel 'downed' by that post at all! I definitely don't shoot in the low 80's and I don't think there are all that many on here that do.... yes, there are a number of 'A' players in here that post alot, but I think you will find that the majority of players in here are weekend warriors I play the occasional round in the high 70's but they are rare and I am happy with my 80 to 85 scores

    Scotty,

I did not mean to infer that there were not good golfers in here. In fact I am aware that there are some really good golfers in here

I was just trying (and I obviously failed miserably) to say that playing constantly in the mid 80's is not considered 'not a good player' in my humble opinion.

Sorry I didn't mean it to sound like that at all.. Its wild when you look at some of the stats on golfers (and I don't have them just going by memory) The average player shoot areound 100 and less than 1% of players are single digit handicaps.. Thats pretty crazy..

I used to have the stat posted on my board. If memory serves me right, it is less than 9% of golfer break 100 and less than 5% break 90 and less than 1% break 80.

it would be interesting to see our board's %'s versus all of golf .. we must have a high # of single digit handicaps here.

Well, if everyone enters their scores in our handicapping system we would get a good idea.

that's assuming they keep real scores ...

I know I for one have nothing but fake scores in my account (from testing)
