Interested in everyone's story
Not sure if this type of topic is over kill, but my curious nature wants to ask what everyone does? A lot of the members here golf atleast 4 times a week. I am very curious what careers, or status everyone has.
I am a student (Finance - Ottawa U, minor in Stats) and have future plans to do my masters in Economics - Macro level with a strong focus on Globalization. I worked for 8 years as a techie, both server and desktop specializing (windows architecture) in Exchange and Active Directory. I have also worked for 12 years as a waiter while working as a technical support person. I am now 28 and a full time student / full time employee.
I have decided to evolve from support and serving, hence the completion of my studies; I do not have nearly enough money, a car or the time to golf as much as I would like. I am also in a long term relationship with the love of my life.
My long term plans are to work as a Global Manager, learn three more languages. I know I love international affairs, have a strong passion for cooking / wine, and love golf.
If you are interested, this would be great to know what everyone else does.

I'm a software developer ... I write medical software at the moment.
In addition to that I work @ Manderley about 20 hours a week as an assistant.

finishing second year of history undergrad at Uvic. Lucky to afford one round per week during the summer. Not enough money or transportation to play out here during the winter, unfortunately. Hoping to do the summer tour guide program at either Vimy Ridge or Juno Beach next summer (keeping my fingers crossed).

I am a student at U of T studying actuarial science in my last year of school. I'm hoping to move to CALI when I'm done so me and my cousin can play golf 2 or 3 times a week and live close by. I'm really enjoying the asset liability mgt. portion of my course and think it may be something I want to get into when im' done. You basically hedge against losses but its more than just operating a hedge fund. Anyway, maybe I'll take another course I like more. I'm doing the speicalist program so no minor. I am also doing a double major in math and statistics but since you can't do two degrees which so much overlap at U of T at the same time you have to use your electives to finnish the degree req. for the double major and when you graduate from the specilist program you request graduation with the double major as well. Anyway I would love to have something to do with golf but I'm neither good enough or have enough knowledge to be good at anything having to do with golf. Salary in the field is decent so I will be golfing a lot more when I'm done.

job
I am in the military and will retire at the ripe age of 49, so 8 1/2 years to go, since my wife just joined the forces I can afford to retire at 49 and enjoy golf full time. Hopefully get a part time job related to golf to continue being able to afford equipment swapping and buying.

Software developer. No significant responsibilities so I can golf as much as I like more or less. My name is a misnomer since I get out quite often with the crowd form work for a quick nine in the evening.

I am a regional manager for a specialty insurance company. Average about 45 rounds per year, but was told by my CEO at this year's Christmas party to, "...pick up the pace in '06, no less than 70 rounds better show up on your expense account this year..." Wife and daughter both golf, so weekend rounds are no problem, either. Guess this is payoff for the 10 years of 70-80 hour weeks when I got into the business. I keep fearing that I'm going to wake up soon...

Work in the utilities (water and sewer) field for a municipality. Too bad that I cannot golf as well as I play foosball. After a long sabbatical, I am hoping to get up to 30-40 rounds this year....and break 100.

In industry, I am the Director of Quality for a $400 million automotive parts supplier.
My professional background includes: a senior member of ASQ (1 of only 5,000 professionals world-wide), a site examiner for the Canada Awards for Excellence, a Certified Quality Auditor, and a trained Six Sigma Black Belt (statistical specialist).
At the age of 39, I introduced myself as well as my 2 sons (Duane and Dwight) to golf.
We established our own clubmaking shop, and then began to conduct original golf research on how to improve.
Kind regards, Harry
