    Interesting Results...

I took a few drivers to artisan last weekend, and had some interesting results with 2 Titleists in particular (a 975LFE & a 905T)....I spent nearly 2h hitting balls and this is what ti showed:

My dispursion rate was similar with both of the clubs, the launch was nearly identical, the spin rates were identical, and the distance averages were within a yard or 2.

Bottom line, there was virtually no difference between a 975L-FE (released in 2002) and the 905T (released 2005).

The only thing I really noticed was there was a slightly better feel in the 905T.

    now two things:

    1. before ppl jump on me saying launch monitors suck, I used both drivers together on the course over a period of a few days and had come to the same conclusions that the launch monitor did.

    2. the shafts, they are both holding similar shafts, but of course, not identical shafts ... so there could be a slight difference there (altohugh if anything, the 905T has a better shaft in it, so the 975LFE is at a disadvantage and still keeping up). I am having a fujikura put into the 905T as we speak, so I will retest once that is in, and see if the performance of the 905T is greatly improved.

    ---------
I sure am glad I bought a 983K when it was new on the market, and again, the 905T this year

The LFE was a 350cc head, same as the 983E, wasn't it? I think if you're hitting the sweet spot most of the time, there aren't too many differences between titanium, max cor driver heads yardage wise, regardless of the volume. I think volume is a factor in distance only when getting away from the sweet spot, increasing the MOI so less twisting. Did you test any 460cc heads? Might be interesting to test the LFE against the R. Maybe the 50cc jump to the T is inconsequential MOI-wise.

I tested the 905R vs. the 905T earlier in the year, and posted my results in this section. Overall I was not impressed w/ the 905R, as it maintained nearly identical stats to the 905T.

I did not however test it during this session.

p.s. I also tested a Gemini 460 during this session, it was also shorter than the 905T

I really didn't need to read this today, because after bombing my 983 almost perfectly on Friday, I am selling it today in anticipation of the arrival of my 905. Drivers ALWAYS do this to me, they know their necks are on the chopping block, so they perform their very best on their last day....
