    strange driver at sport chek

Just had to ask about this. Was at sport chek yesterday and saw this really bizzare driver. I can't remember what it was called, or who made it, but the underside of the clubhead had a huge bowl shape cut out of it. Anyone know what the heck this thing is, and why the heck there's a massive hole in the bottom of it?

Ah..found a link. It's called the Powershot, by Burrows

Like the link says, its called the Burrows MAC Powersphere. The principal behind the driver is, that when you hit a ball, the energy "waves" created within the driver head is supposed to rebound off the Powersphere (the concave "bowl" in the bottom of the driver) to create a hotter face and give you more distance. Never tried one, so not sure if any truth to the matter. I think Thomas Bjorn used to be a Tour staff user. I think he's long switched to Callaway.

It wouldn't suprise me Chief. But they were ahead of the times in the way of fitting. They were the first manufacturer to offer the quick connect method of fitting. You could try pretty much any shaft and driver head combination they had at a fitting. They were good that way, but I guess the equipment never caught on.

Ah yes, the Mac Burrows Powersphere...
I always thought it would be a great driver if you could use trick plays in golf the way they do in baseball. Simply cover the ball with your driver and then tag out your opponent when he isn't looking .
