Biggest Flops - Equipment, Sponsorships, etc...
Just thought it would be fun to go down memory lane and remember some of the bad decisions that have been made in the past. Whether it was an OEM that made a brutal club, a terrible sponsorship signing, a bad business decision, along those lines.
For me:
Fred Couples buying Lynx back in the early 90's;
The fantastic ( ) Tommy Armour Morph irons;
Callaway and Charles Howell III, big money contract and he's no where near worth it these days;
Oh, and Fuzzy's comments about the Masters dinner back in '97.Donny Vantage NFL Guru, since 1974

Corey Pavin leaves Cleveland to sign with PRGR.
Payne Stewart (RIP) playing that stupid Spalding driver that looked like a soup ladle. (oddly enough Cleveland's new driver looks frighteningly similar...)
Ray Cook Titanic (all titanium) irons.
The Bass Ackward putter.
The POD driver.
Macgregor letting Nicklaus and Norman walk.
Ryder and Presidents Cup players asking for money.
PGA Tour players not backing Greg Norman in his bid to create a world tour.
USGA taking Ping to court (and losing) over square grooves.
PGA Tour taking Casey Martin to court (and losing) over cart issue.
I know I'll come up with more...When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

The Amazing Wilson Invex Titanium driver. Never met anyone other than John Daly who could actually hit one.

- The Hammar Driver POWWWW WOOOO!
- Jean Van De Velde hitting driver on 18 at Carnoustie... with a 3 shot lead. oi.

Well... c'mon, when Nike signed Duval, he had some good golf ahead of him. Plus he's still a draw, somewhat.

Greg Norman's meltdown at Augusta. Saddest thing I ever saw in golf.

Payne Stewart's drive on the back nine (Sunday) at the 98 US Open that landed in a sand filled divot. Cost him the tournament, Lee Janzen won. Of course that wasn't a flop, just bad luck. But I digress...

As I remember, that was the time Nicklaus got heat for saying that a sand filled divot should be ground under repair. Which it is!

Those pathetic VAS irons Pavin used to win at Shinnecock. Now those were butt-ugly.

Were the VAS's those weird headed purple inserted clubs? I think I seen a used set at Chuck's once and I was wondering what in the hell they were, since they were a little before my time.
My name is Paul. And I'm a golfaholic.

I actually had a Cleveland VAS putter. I think my old roommate still has it. When I worked at sports experts, i got it at cost. We sold some dynamite stuff. Wilson Killer Whales that kept being returned with busted shafts.

Another sad day in golf? When Mike Weir handed Vijay our National Open at The Abbey Mind you Vijay was #1 at the time, and was on a tear. But Mikey should not have missed those putts.My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.
