I have a friend who is sporting a set of 1980's era Nancy Lopez irons which have some really sweet smooth as a baby's butt powder blue grips on em - he also sports a matching set of Northwestern wooden woods (1-3-5) which have powder blue heads and to top it off, he uses putter that he got at a mini-putt course with, you guessed it, a powder blue rubber head

    Sweet, sweet set of clubs

Wait a second all you guys with nice set-ups. Let's get some reality in here. When you post ur set-ups, I'd like to see how long you've been playing AND what your handicap is.
Do nice clubs really lower the handicap - or is it just nice to have nice toys?

Just nice to have nice toys.

I've been playing for 6 seasons and my handicap is 6.6.

You can buy the most exspensive clubs available, that will not make you a golfer. Some people seem to think it will, but without a good swing there isn't a club on the market that is going to help you put the ball in the hole.
My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

I've been playing for 22 years and my index is -0.6 according to the USGA site I used to calculate it.

I am the anti-EdmontonGolfer in that my bag is component only.

And I would argue from an aesthetics point of view, it's as nice as any OEM set out there. The only one that's not "pretty" is the putter, but it works for me so it's staying.

I would have to agree. I've seen those Wishons, very nice indeed.

HAHA! No doubt that they are nice, and I guess it's preference for sure. I've looked on the GolfWorks site and they do have some very nice looking irons, but I prefer the looks of my Titleist irons over any of the components I have seen.

    Again, just personal preference.

In fact, when I buy a house and have somewhat of a "workshop" space, I was pondering the idea of putting together a component set for my backup clubs.

EG, I'm playing Wishon 550Ms. I've never liked most of Golfworks designs.

I agree with you 100% though, it's all about preference. Kind of like blondes vs. brunettes vs. redheads.

I guess if you use that as an analogy, I must like them all then.

Given the rate that you change clubs, I'd have to agree with you.

I'm a little biased, but I have to say that (apart from my woods, wedges, putter, and 2 iron....and my swing of course), I have the nicest looking setup . I seriously don't think I will ever own another set of irons in my life - those tour actions are just gorgeous. It's the little touch of red paint that brings it all together.

I have to say, I've gone from an ugly duckling bag to a beauty. This summer I bought an Ogio Edge bag, a set of Bridgestone J33s, a Bridgestone Hybrid, Mizuno TP Mills putter, Titleist 983K, a TM Rozza putter (gorgeous!) and a TM R7 425 with a Mitsubishi shaft. I think I might win the most improved bag award. If only my game improved...

Yeah those Wishons are really nice looking. They look like the 695MB's.
