    Talking FS:Golfsmith XPC 5-PW irons

Selling for a friend who just got into golf. He used these clubs last year for about 6 rounds so they are in still very good shape...9.5/10

They are shafted with Precision R flex shafts (spined). Standard length, loft and lie.
He used hybrids to fill in for the 3 and 4 irons. This would make an excellent set for someone learning the game.

    NEW PRICE ONLY $80

    Model

I believe they are the XPC 4's.

XPC 4 irons offer game improvement with rich looks at an affordable price. The combination of wider sole widths, undercut cavity and progressive offset best benefit middle- and high-handicap players.

Split-level cavity design places weight low for super solid feel and enhanced trajectory. Increased bounce angles help reduce 'fat' shots.

    Thanks, Chris,

Looking for a set of irons with a higher MPF than 571 (XPC4).

To be quite honest Dave, don't read too much into the MPF scale. I've hit some irons better that have a low MPF than some that are up at the top of the scale for most forgiving. Not sure how their formula works, but I'd say try any iron regardless of the MPF.

Just for instance, I once had a set of Ping I3 Blades and they were much easier to hit than a set of GW's own CER 701s which rank much higher than the Pings. If you like a set, try them side by side with a set you already hit well. Hope this helps.

Keep in mind that the MPF scale is Golfworks. The XPC4s are made by Golfsmith, which is the main competition for Golfworks.
Would you not buy a Callaway set just because Taylor Made ratings said their clubs were better than Callaway?...
Golfsmith offerings never seem to do well on the MPF scale...

XPCs are very forgiving. I got a set of XPC3's and you could not get any more forgiving than that. Progressive offset to help keep your hands ahead of the ball, cavity backs, midsize. How much more forgiving can you get???

And I hope they are still working great for you. They are great clubs, but I'm just saying I can hit a club much lower on the MPF scale better than one placed much higher. Different strokes for different folks.

Are the XPC4 more forgiving than the Kenneth Smith Milled cavity backs?

BTW, I shot a 83 over 9 holes (par 37; 3100 yards) on my first outing of 2006 today using the KS irons. It didn't help much that it was a very muddy course due to a recent snowfall. Hoping to get lessons in the next month or two.

Sorry to hear about the 83..

XPC's have more offsite..wider sole.. larger head and hitting area = more forgiveness.
