Played it Friday AM - greens were very good if not excellent for this time of year - fairways were dry in some spots, soaked in others...

No idea about Monday but they did charge us full rate on Friday.

    Metcalfe

Played Metcalfe 18 yesterday, easily a 2 club wind going on all round long, challenging for my first round of the season to say the least!

Faiways on the "old" course were a bit wet in spots, some plugging (lift & clean), the greens were not in great shape (lots of dead grass a few green spots). The new 9 was in good shape, greens were green, running a bit slow.

A real slow group a few in front of us caused back-ups on every hole (sometimes 2 groups), which was disappointing to say the least, we spoke to the Marshall to get them to move quicker but it didn't seem to work. He apparently could not get them to go quicker and didn't have the authority to move them up a hole, only management can (as he told us). Why do they need Marshalls (at Metcalfe) then?
I felt sorry for the twosome behind us! 5 hrs 15 min for the round.

$32 for the round (20% off the regular rates).

    course conditions.

played two rounds at the Canadian, good fairways, good greens , good people, what a weekend this has been. the staff made us feel so much at home from the pro shop to the marshalls, especially a guy named Paul, he is a riot . I think we are going to like it there this year.

    Greensmere - April 15th

I allready have played Canadian, Mapleview and Manderley this spring, but Greensmere was in the best shape in my opinion. Greens were a little slower than usual but no winterkill at all, and not wet really anywhere. They are charging $38 plus $10/person for a cart and it's not cartpath only. Played in under 4 hours on Saturday afternoon. Looking forward to the opening of their new 9 this summer. I wish i had monday off...

Me, I'm working - to help cover the cost of everyone on the public payroll so they can have an extra stat holiday today and play golf. You're welcome.

    Pakenham highlands

Very decent condition for this time of year, very very few water spots, lake 7-10
canyon 8-10, greens are fairly good for this time of year, mind you Pakenham asnt been the greatest for greens the last 2 yrs.

Played Meadows West-North today - most greens were in excellent shape but slow. In fact, I never got used to how slow they were... But hey, it's mid-April, can't complain...

Fairways were mostly dry which was an improvement from Casselview's soggy fairways from Friday...

Champlain is not that wet; a huge improvement from last week. Hole 6 & 17 were wet in spots but besides that it wasen't bad at all those were the only holes I plugged. The greens ran alright.

I have to echo the comments about Renfrew. No casual water anywhere on the course, greens were a bit slow with aeration holes from last fall but rolling smoothly. Even the bunkers were in decent shape (I should know, I tried them all). First time playing there and I must say it is a very nice course - must be beautiful in the fall. Only $25 right now.

Have played 5 rounds so far. Don't know if you played during opening weeks last year, but the course is in much better shape. Well worth the trip for $15. Join me Fri or Sat to see for yourself.

Played Canadian today. It's in great shape. Only casual water we saw was from a couple of leaking sprinklers. Great day, so-so score, but no bargain at $42!

    Champlain and Gatineau

Played Champlain today - geez what a beautiful day.
It's improved 300 percent since early last week - very dry in most places - 6, 17, 18 still quite wet. I actually got some bounce and roll on the fairways!
Greens are irregular - I agree with another poster that anyone who cares about their score should wait a while.
Their regular price is not worth it - unless you are in the OttawaGolf club...

And by the way, don't bother with Gatineau. Maybe I'm the only one who didn't know this, but they're tearing the place up and they'll only have 9 holes for the next 2 seasons.
    What a mess...

    Chateau Cartier

Played it today. It was in pretty good shape. Greens ahve recovered nicely form being punched, have greened up well. In fact, they could use a cut very soon. Fairways in pretty good shape. Only water on 4 & 5 but on the right side only, not too bad. Only $35.00 taxes in, a steal of a deal!!
