advantages of a heavier shaft??
I was told go to from a 60g to a 70g shaft but seem to be doing ok with my 60g shaft. What should I expect if I switch to 70g??? what are the ups and downs with making this move and why? Thanks

For me a heavier shaft keeps my swing in control. With a lighter shaft I would sometimes tend to really come over the top. The shaft was so light I wouldn't let it just drop down. I would muscle it and put my swing off plane. The heavier shaft allows for the dropping of the club on plane on the downswing. Just gives me the feeling of more control.

Increased swing weight = increased clubhead speed.. at least that was the case for a buddy at his launch monitor session..

I don't mind giving up club head speed to get more control 9straighter drives). I swing pretty fast already and find it hard to take some off of the driver so if this move slows me a down a bit that would be great.

I agree with BC.
10g for a shaft would be almost negligible difference in swing speed.
I am thinking of going from a ~120g shaft (TTDG) to a ~70g shaft (Accflex). This should result in, at most, 5 mph swing speed increase (based on MOI and a fixed amount of energy that I can "put into" a swing). Assuming this was a linear relationship, this would translate to 1mph per 10g.
I have seen your other post about your Launch Monitor results. You will not notice the loss of that 1mph (according to Wishon this equals 1.4 yards!).
Hopefully, the 70g shaft for you will result in better control/accuracy.Back at it.
