Cannot Find ball in middle of fairway
On the weekend, my partner hit a shot straight down the fairway off the tee. We saw it land and then proceeded to walk to hit our second shot. His ball was nowhere to be found. We assumed it plugged deep because of wet ground.
What is the ruling?

Lost ball. Stroke and distance. Back to the tee. Sorry.

Partner
A “partner’’ is a player associated with another player on the same side.
In a threesome, foursome, best-ball or four-ball match, where the context so admits, the word “player’’ includes his partner or partners.
Side
A “side” is a player, or two or more players who are partners.

dont quote me , but if the ground was wet to the extent of casual water , it would be an abnormal ground condition
if there was reasonable evidence to say your ball was lost in that condition ...... drop another ball 1 clublength from point of entry .....no penalty
it could be that that applies in your case ...."i think"
