    How far could you....

hit your driver if it was a left handed driver if you are a righty or a right handed driver if you are a lefty. What do you think you could score playing wrong handed???

I actually did this last year and did a lot better than I thought...

Was hitting the drivers around 180 and shot a 115 Better than my first round right handed matve I should have played left handed right from the start

I tried tee'ing off with a lefty driver last year.
The only thing that took off was the 10 pound divot i had to go retrieve.
Just no-way i could ever play left.

why would I ever do this...? simple, flew to ottawa from toronto and my clubs didn't make it for some reason, I don't know how you lose clubs on a direct flight but anyway. So I was playing with my cousin, since we had booked the tee time and paid with his credit card we figured ok, lets play anyway and I'll just rent a set. Then I had an idea, why rent when I can just use his set and we can same some money. He is from ottawa and had an extra bag in his car so we just took some of his clubs out of his bag and put them into the empty one and we were off... when we got to the Tee box I realized that he was a lefty... and he realized I was a righty... dont know why neither of us thought about this before...

It was by far my most fun, relaxing and laid back round of golf ever!

PS I don't know anyone who I've played with who HASN'T tried hitting a club wrong handed...

Great thread. I have actually been told that my lefty swing looks pretty much the same as my righty swing. It just feels so awkward. As for hitting it, it varies. When I do make good contact, I can hit it about 200 with the Driver. If I don't, who knows. And making contact is completely up in the air, because I get no feel with that swing...nobody knows what will happen.

IMO... its better to have no feel on a long iron or metal wood shot and just have the mechanics down. For some reason, I'm able to apply my lessons more to my left handed swing than I can to my natural swing. I think its because I'm more comfortable swinging hard and then I end up doing something wrong here and there. With my left handed swing I can't swing as hard and concentrate on doing what I was taught in lessons more and for some reason hit it pretty good. I would love to be able to play left and right... but I have enough problems with my right, I'll worry about that in a few years

I would never try a full swing the opposite hand, I'd be afraid to hurt my back.

    As a converted northpaw!

I would expect that most left handers would be better hitting right than the other way. After all, most of us have to deal with a lot more right hand appliances than left.

As for me, I played right handed for the first 6 years. After switching, I was playing better within a month. However, most of that is due to improved accuracy. I don't notice a big change in distance.
