    Knock offs...

I am looking for a set of womens RH clubs and my friend said she is open to the idea of knock offs as long as they aren't crap quality. My question is, is it possible for a company to take the womens big bertha's and copy them and not give up to much and at the same time charge only 25% of the price? Here is one auction I'm looking at right now, seems to be in order, feedback is really good as well. Does anyone have any exp. with knock offs/clones? Thanks

Just do a little search, we've pretty much covered most golf related topics here:

Clones are exact replicas of an OEM's and illegal, while knockoffs are close enough in appearance to not infringe on the patent. However, they both can be made from inferior alloys and may have weights, lofts and lies that are out of whack. If the golfer is a "duffer" and would not be able to tell the difference, then it does not matter what they play until they develop a reasonable swing where they can get the ball in the air most of the time.

If one is on a strict budget, why not consider discontinued irons such as Tommy Armour 845u or 845cs? These irons were available in the low to mid $200 range last summer. Other brands that have discontinued models are also in the same boat....highly discounted. Or stick with used irons in good or better condition.

If one is willing to consider components rather than OEMs, then component companies such as Raven, Wishon, etc should be further investigated. Cast Raven irons can be had for under $200-$300. I believe that the quality of these irons will probably rival OEM sets that cost two to three times more. Other more experienced members can probably attest to this.

READ THE SEARCH FOR THE PERFECT CLUB BY TOM WISHON. Spend some cash and so some reading and research, it will make your club selecting and buying more rewarding than just asking someone.

I'd avoid the clones for the reasons listed above...lower quality...

Non OEM is a great route, and as you can see on the forum used clubs sell cheap ... you can get great irons for 200$
