Worst Hole in the Region

My vote goes for #17 at Chateau Cartier... I don't think I've played a golf hole in my life I hated so much...

I agree big time!!! #17 at Chateau Cartier is my nemesis. Par it only once because I hit a wood and the ball kicked up from the bank onto the green. Usually, I'll take a double bogey so I have to play well before getting to this hole. I feel like taking a bull dozer and shaving 20 yards off that green.

If we are really talking about the poorest designed hole I'll throw another vote in for #18 at Glenmar - personally I wouldn't want hackers chipping off of my greens, but then again I don't own or design golf courses.......hounourable mention for me goes to #16 at Haute Plains - ever played that one with a strong wind blowing into your face??

This is what I don't understand. If they have to put in place a local rule so that you don't chip while on the green, why build that green in the first place? It's counterintuitive to make the feature part of the hole essentially unplayable. It's a hazard, but not, and with no penalty. Seems dumb to me...

You still have to play out of the bunker. It's if you are on the green, but let's say near the front and the flag is on the opposite side, you can move the ball to the fringe and chip. STILL REALLY DUMB

Yes, it's a poorly designed golf hole but it is probably my favourite hole on the course. For a lefty, it's just a hard 3-wood or a sliced driver to hit your tee shot on the green and have a nice little eagle putt. I look forward to the 12th hole every time I play the Canadian. The problem is if you can't hit it 230 yards or more, you can't get past the trees and end up with a silly shot over the trees to the green.

I love the 12th hole, it's my favourite at the Canadian! If every par 4 was 420 yards, it would be a pretty boring game.

Marshes #2 has to be the toughest hole in the Ottawa Region. Add an extra stroke if pin position is in the back right corner.
As mentioned in previous post, I have seen too many good golfers(5 - 8 handicap or even scratch) score an 8, 9, 10 or higher during my 60 plus rounds this season.

By far the worst in THE WOrld is Chateau Cartier #17(also known as heart attack hill) I t would not take much to change this hole but then again we would not have anything to complain about.

Sorry to see they have done nothing to fix 10, 11 and 12 in the 2 years since I have played there.

Definitely 3 reasons why I have not been back.

In all fairness to Outaouais. For years, that was one of the most beautiful holes to play but unfortunately houses were built along the fence line and now stupid lawsuits have forced them to make temporary changes that make it a real dumb hole.

They do have plans to redesign the hole and move the green and tee off. When they get this done, it will be a beautiful hole again.

I too hate the stretch of holes you mention but this year they did *try* to do something... they have red staked both sides of the fairway on all three holes. Doesn't make ball striking any easier but it does make the holes a bit more fair.

Now I'm sure the local resident rules guru would have something to say about doing something like this to a golf course is against some course design rules...

Having said all that, I only go play there under extreme duress!

Yup, #9 south is a mickey mouse hole, IMHO it hould be bull dozed! Unfortunately it has the best green on the course! LOL

No, that is 9 West, 9 south is a very short par 4 straight uphill with a very small landing area then 90 degree left turn straight downhill for about 100 yards..... stupid stupid stupid hole....

Hey! be carefull! I made a hole in one on number 9 at Montebello last year.No Mickey Mouse hole when it happen.

Used to be no 9 at Tecumseh where you had to play ar par 3 over the passing cars in the main entrance with cars roaring by on avenue St-Louis. But they made some improvements last year.
No I still consider the up-hill par 3 at Montebello (I think it's no9) to be a Mickey-Mouse design.
